Valentine’s dessert recipe
It is probably safe to say that I am a little infatuated with all things Valentine’s Day.
There is just something about cute little hearts and Valentine’s decorations that I simply cannot resist.
And I also cannot resist these little guys all decked out in Valentine’s sprinkles.
Basic Mini Doughnuts
(Adapted from here)
Dry Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
½ cup sugar
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
½ teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
1/2 cup Earth Balance
Basic Icing
1/2 cup confectioners powdered sugar (mix 1 tablespoon cocoa powder for chocolate icing)
1 tablespoon almond milk
Sprinkles
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Make a well in the center. Whisk in the wet ingredients until mixture forms a smooth batter. Transfer to a pitcher or fabric piping bag. Spray doughnut pan with cooking oil. Fill pan with batter. Bake for approximately 10-12 minutes (until doughnuts appear lightly browned). Let cool on wire rack before decorating.
These are so fun and festive, aren’t they?
We’re off to the circus tonight…where I must confront my lifelong fear of clowns.
Have a Happy Saturday!

I usually don’t get too excited about Valentine’s Day– but you totally just made me want to break out some heart-shaped plates! (and eat some doughnuts off of them) LOL
Go for it!
I love all holiday decorations! My apartment changes with the holidays seasons too! The donuts look delish and I love that they are baked not fried!
The best Valentine’s decorations are from Target. I have to hold myself back in there!
So many cute v-day decorations and accessories! =) I need to look into decorating! I’ve been avoiding target like the plague b/c I spend sooooo muuuuuch moneyyyyy there! haha
Their cute things will suck you right in, won’t they? It is a dangerous place!
Hearts are what the world needs most.Well, does the book that shows on your photo is great?
The book is one of my favorite cookbooks. Lot of great recipes, especially if you live near a Trader Joe’s. A lot of the ingredients come from there.
