Workout DVD Review: Physique 57
Well, I survived the circus. Although I do have to say…the circus is one scary place.
I’m glad that you all enjoyed the doughnut recipe yesterday. There aren’t many left in my household!
Today I present to you, another workout DVD review.
One of my very favorites is Physique 57 (Kelly Ripa has also claimed to be a fan).
Since I had wanted it for awhile, Michael got The Complete Physique 57 Workout Kit for me as a Christmas gift (version released in 2009).
The kit includes the Classic 57 Minute Workout, the Express 30 Minute Full Body Workout, the Arm and Ab Booster 30 Minute Workout, and a playground ball and a pump (not shown).
After one use, I was immediately hooked.
I’m going to focus mainly on the 57 Minute Workout (instructed by Tanya Becker) which is a mixture of isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches. The workout is broken down into different sections: arms, legs & seat, and ab work.
The instructors use a ballet bar for a lot of the moves, but you can get your ballerina on by using a chair or a couch. You’ll also need 3-5 pound weights and the playground ball.
Some people criticize Tanya for being annoying and over the top, but I personally find her to be motivating and fun! While she is silly at times, her instructions are great, and I never find myself getting lost during the workout.
If you’re looking for intense cardio, this isn’t for you (although it does make me break quite a sweat!). While there is a cardio/calorie burning aspect to these DVDs, they really focus on strengthening and toning.
In just one month of use (3-4 times/week), I’ve already noticed a huge difference in my body’s definition- particularly in my arms, legs, and booty (which is getting perkier by the day, thank you very much). For a girl who has never had a booty, this is a miracle!
What I love most about this workout is that it emphasizes the fact that women can be strong and feminine at the same time. Plus, Tanya teaches you how to do a thigh dance on the floor… a move she encourages you to break out at boring parties.
Have you tried Physique 57? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Well, I am off to tackle massive amounts of laundry and then hopefully spend some time outside. It is going to be in the mid-60s today in Charlotte. Woo to the hoo!
Have a great Sunday!

I’m also jealous of those temps! It’s so cold here!
It actually got up to 72 at one point! Definitely look into the workout DVDs. I’ve really enjoyed them and they are different from anything that I’ve ever tried.
I haven’t tried Physique 57–but it sounds great! I’m going to see if they have the DVD’s on Netflix!
