Green smoothies for green energy
Last night, Michael and I went on a double date with our friends Rob and Julie to Maria Bonita Cantina & Grill for some Mexican food. I dressed up and wore the new skirt that I purchased earlier in the day at Banana Republic. It is so cute and flirty. I couldn’t resist! (FYI- mine is patterned, but I think it is only sold in stores)
Anyway, the food was really good and so was the company.
Yesterday afternoon, I had a green smoothie…again. I’m on such a green smoothie kick. They are so energizing and refreshing!
My body has been craving these things lately, so I’ve been delivering the green goods. With Lupus, my immune system tends to be on the weaker side which is part of the reason why these smoothies are so beneficial to me. The kale, spinach, and flaxseed that I add to them increase my levels of prebiotics- nondigestible food components that selectively stimulate the growth of good bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract.
In short, these green suckers are my immunity booster!!
This morning, Michael and I went to Panera for breakfast. We both wore shorts and froze our booties off. Unfortunately, the weather is looking a little gloomy, but I’ve been spoiled enough with beautiful weather I guess. 😉
Gloomy weather always makes me feel like baking, so I’m signing off to make Sweet Potato Pudding. Stayed tuned for the results and the recipe!
