Crusty Butt (Thyme-Sesame Crusted Halibut)
On Saturday night, I really wanted to make a nice romantic dinner for Michael. My original plan was to buy fresh salmon and then make a marinade consisting of fresh garlic, soy sauce, and honey.
Unfortunately by the time I made it to Clean Catch Fish Market, they were totally out of salmon but suggested the halibut instead. Even though I was really disappointed and had my heart set on salmon, I figured that I’d just go with it.
When I got home, I searched online for some appealing halibut recipes and found one for Thyme-Sesame Crusted Halibut that sounded really good.
For some reason, Michael kept referring to the recipe as “crusty butt”, so I was a little nervous about what he’d think of the meal.
No wife wants to serve her husband something that reminds him of crusty butt.
However, I’m pleased to say that dinner was a complete success! In Michael’s own words, “This is so much better than crusty butt! I’ll eat halibut any time!”
Part of the reason why I love salmon so much is because it gives me a nice boost of Omega-3s. This is particularly important to me during this time of year when my skin tends to get a bit dry.
Naturally, I was pretty excited when I discovered that halibut is not only rich in Omega-3s, but it contains protein, selenium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and B vitamins.
Plus, it doesn’t taste as fishy as salmon. As much as I love salmon, sometimes the fishy factor is a little overpowering.
Have you ever tried halibut? Do you have any recipes to share?
Have a great day!
