Weekend Recap (Belated birthday & cupcakes on the floor)
As I mentioned in my last post, Michael came home from a business trip on Friday, so I was very excited to see him.
Since he was away on his birthday, I didn’t get to make a special celebratory dinner, so I planned to make Chicken Cacciatore on Friday evening.
Unfortunately, Michael came down with a nasty case of food poisoning while he was away and didn’t feel like eating anything more than a sandwich.
Luckily, he was able to eat one of the red velvet cupcakes that I made for him before they were completely inhaled by a certain crazy pregnant woman.
I just couldn’t keep my hands off of them- which explains the text I sent to Michael on Friday night…
At least, I have an understanding husband.
And his understanding really came into play on Saturday morning when I did this to the cupcakes…
Hello. My name is Erin. I ate half of my husband’s birthday cupcakes and then dropped the rest on the kitchen floor.
Pregnancy brain strikes again…
Thankfully, the rest of the weekend went more smoothly.
We had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory on Saturday afternoon, and since the weather was so beautiful, we sat outside.
Doesn’t The Cheesecake Factory have the best bread?
I can never resist the bread basket when the bread comes out warm. In fact, my rule is that I only eat from the bread basket if the bread is fresh and warm. Otherwise, I don’t care for it.
I also had a mixed greens salad with herb crusted salmon- and a few of Michael’s fries because you know, I hadn’t eaten enough of his food already over the course of the weekend.
After lunch, we went to Benjamin Moore and bought paint for the baby’s nursery!
Due to some Pinterest inspiration, I decided to go with a neutral color called Shaker Beige which (according to the sales associate) is their most popular selling neutral. I guess this means that I made a very sound decision, or I’m just completely boring.
Either way, I cannot wait to show you all the color once it is up on the walls! I think it will look great with the furniture and bedding that we ordered.
By Saturday night, Michael thought his stomach could finally handle a big birthday dinner, so I made my famous (well, famous in our household) Chicken Cacciatore.
After dinner, we went to music on the green, and this time, we knew enough to bring our own beverages. Of course, I also brought a chocolate bar.
On Sunday, I was the one who was feeling queasy, so I pretty much parked myself on the couch all afternoon and watched a marathon of The Parent Trap on the Hallmark channel.
I’m still not feeling great today, and I am a little nervous that my morning sickness is returning. I am really hoping that I just have a little stomach bug. Fingers crossed!
Speaking of sickness….
Thanks for the all of the concern about Emma. I took her to the vet on Friday, and they had to do some nasty stuff to her behind region.
I’ll leave it at that.
She’s on 4 different medications right now, and I also have to apply eye drops 6 times a day and some powder 3 times a day. Basically, taking care of Emma is my full-time job at the moment!
What did you do over the weekend?
Does anyone else remember The Parent Trap movies? If so, do you prefer the newer version with Lindsay Lohan or the original with Hayley Mills? I love both but grew up watching the original, so I think I prefer that one just a little bit more.
And for the mommies out there, did your morning sickness ever go away and then come back? Please, oh please, tell me that it isn’t possible!
Have a great day!
