Weekend recap (New car & new-to-me restaurant)

 

Happy Monday!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and that none of you melted away from this extreme heat.

On Friday evening, Michael called to say that he picked out a new car for me (our old one was coming off lease) and that he was bringing it home for me to look at before we decided to buy it.

Needless to say, I was so excited!  Who doesn’t love a good new car smell?

 

 

While on my test drive, Michael asked if I wanted to keep the car, and I replied, “My sunglasses are already in the glove compartment, so it’s kind of a done deal.”

Even though that seemed official enough to me, we went to the car dealer on Saturday and finalized all of the paperwork.

It was so exciting to get my new keys!

That night, we went to Taco Mac for dinner.

 

Both of us wanted to try it for quite awhile, so we were really happy when we got right in without having to wait.

Of course, the fact that we showed up at 5:30 pm for the early bird special may have a little something to do with that.

 

Don’t worry.  The beer in the photo is not mine.

Obviously, I stuck with water, but Michael loved the huge beer selection on their menu.  If you’re into beer, you’ll love that place for sure.  I think the beer menu may have even been longer than the food menu!

I’ve had killer heartburn lately from the pregnancy, and my doctor told me to avoid anything tomato-based or spicy.  With that in mind, I went with the avocado and shrimp salad.

If you’ve been reading for awhile, you’ll know that I’ll eat anything that has avocado in it.

 

 

My meal was delicious!

Of course, the shrimp was a bit spicy after all, but luckily, it didn’t trigger my heartburn.

Even though I cannot watch animal movies, Michael and I watched Big Miracle starring Drew Barrymore that evening.  The whales were definitely adorable, but we both thought that the movie was kind of cheesy and disappointing.  Still… it was entertaining enough, and I am proud of the fact that it only made me shed a tear or two.

When I woke up on Sunday morning, all I wanted to do was take my new car for a drive.

So after downing yet another protein pancake (with berries and raw honey), Michael and I hopped in the car and took a nice long journey down some really pretty country roads.

 

Unfortunately, it was too hot to take our little girl in the car with us.

What did you do over the weekend?  I really wanted to go swimming as well, but it was just too hot to be outside.  I was worried that I’d get dehydrated too quickly.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can go next weekend though.

Have you seen Big Miracle?  Has anyone seen Brave in the movie theater?  I know it is a movie for children, but it looks so cute!
