Morning strawberry smoothie & hospital tour
Hi, everyone!
I started off my morning with a delicious strawberry smoothie consisting of 1/4 cup of orange juice, 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1/2 a frozen banana, about a cup of sliced strawberries, vanilla Perfect Fit protein powder, and a sprinkling of ground flaxseed.
So good!
It has been quite awhile since I’ve had a smoothie without greens, and even though I love my green smoothies, it was nice to drink something a bit prettier looking (and pink!).
I wasn’t sure how filling this would be, but right now, I feel very satisfied. We’ll see how I am feeling in an hour…

Yesterday afternoon, Michael and I went to the hospital where I’ll be delivering the baby, and we took a guided tour of the maternity ward.
In all honesty, I’ve been a little bit bummed about having the baby at that particular location since it is pretty far from our house. Unfortunately, my doctor doesn’t deliver at the hospital closer to home.
It took me about an hour to get to the hospital yesterday, so hopefully, I won’t end up giving birth in our car!
Anyway, I felt a bit better about everything after our visit. The hospital is very clean, and part of the maternity ward is basically brand new with really nice modern rooms (not that I’ll be paying much attention to the decor on delivery day).
My favorite part of the tour was walking down to the nursery to look at all of the newborn babies. They were so cute and unbelievably tiny.
It is so crazy that our little guy will be in there soon too. The time is really starting to pass by quickly, and I couldn’t be any more excited!
I’m really glad that we took the tour because now I have a small idea of what to expect when I’m there (though obviously no one can fully prepare me for what the birthing process will be like!).
All of the mommies out there, did you take a hospital tour? Did it make you feel more comfortable about the whole process?
Do you ever drink smoothies for breakfast? If so, what is your favorite combo?
Happy Wednesday!
(PS- I’m meeting my sister for lunch today, and this time, I’ll try to remember to take some pictures.)

From what I’ve heard, the adrenaline of the car ride can actually slow down the labor process, so you should be okay! (That’s why it’s recommended to take a walk outside the hospital before going in to get labor started again!)Of course, everyone is different, but hopefully that reassures you a bit!
That’s actually good to know, and it makes me feel much better!
It’s nice that you are being so prepared. I never had a hospital tour, but it probably wouldn’t have mattered to me anyway. We skipped the classes and everything. In my mind, the less I knew the better I would feel. (it’s the “close your eyes and jump” school of thought)
I wouldn’t worry about giving birth in the car, first time mommies usually are in labor for quite a while I think.
Smoothies sound good, I think I’ll make one now!

I am actually thinking about skipping the child birth classes since I heard that are a complete waste of time. I’ll probably be closing my eyes and jumping too!
You are BUSY preparing for baby plus raising a puppy in the process too. I love smoothies and pretty much have one every morning and love my Vita Mix. I was almost delivered at the fire house, but they told my mom to keeping going to the hospital (born within 20 minutes of arriving at the hospital). I just wanted out – ha! Have a Great Day:)
I love my Vita Mix too. It’s amazing! I cannot believe you were almost delivered at the fire house! That would have been hilarious…but probably not to your mother.
Smoothies out of fruits are very healthy. It also helps in losing weight.
