Lunch with my sister, shopping, & my hair rut
Yesterday afternoon, my sister Melissa and I had a lunch date at Newk’s Cafe.
Yes, I was just there last week, and I’ll actually be there again next week!
Anyway, we both ordered the Simply Salad with grilled salmon (balsamic vinaigrette dressing for me and sherry vinaigrette for my sister).

The salads were nice and huge, and I finished every last bite.
I look way more excited than a person should look when posing with a bowl of salad.
While we were eating, there was a news crew in the restaurant filming. We never did figure out why they were there, and we could have been on the news last night for all I know.
With my luck, they filmed me as I was shoving a giant forkful of food into my mouth.
After lunch, we went over to Old Navy and Marshalls for a little bit of shopping. I was very well-behaved and only bought one maternity shirt which was on clearance for $9!
It was a very fun afternoon of sisterly bonding.

The other day, I looked in the mirror and noticed that my dark roots are taking up far too much real estate on my head, and I immediately called the salon to schedule an appointment.
Thankfully, they were able to fit me in today, and I’ll no longer look like a porcupine.
I really really want to do something different with my hair this time. However, every time I do something new to my hair, I swear that I look the same again within 2 days.
I’m in a hair rut.
I really love Jessica Simpson’s hair during the last season of Newlyweds.

While I’m getting beautified, the painters will be here working on the nursery. It’s perfect timing since our crib already came in (the store is holding it for us until all of the pieces are ready though).
We’ll have a finished nursery before we know it! And of course, I’ll be sharing lots of progress photos with all of you.

I love Jessica’s hair too! I always find when I bring a picture- my hair NEVER looks like it!
I brought a photo of Jessica with a style I wanted for my best friends wedding. I was the maid of honor and 3 months pregnant with my 1st child- so not feeling my prettiest…or thinnest! The guy BUTCHERED me!!! I hated my hair and felt uncomfortable the entire day!He curled my hair with an iron and brushed it out…it looked like a 70′s do!!!
My colorist is amazing and listens to exactly what I want. I finally have the jennifer Aniston-esque color I’ve been aiming for for years!

Oh, you poor thing! I am glad that you have a colorist now who you like and trust. Good hair days are very important.
You could not tell the two you are related – ha! I love my brother, but sometimes wished really hard for a sister. I have a girlfriend who is my sister now. I just chopped some more off my hair about a month ago due to my back injury and not being able to stand for long periods of time – love it:) I have always been the change up girl when it comes to hair and have almost fallen in a rut a few times. Be a good time for a change with the baby on the way – just have FUN with it:) Have a Wonderful Day!

You and your sister look so different! I thought you weren’t supposed to get your hair dyed when you were pregnant? Or maybe the rules have changed since I was preggers. I love Jessica’s hair too, I’ve wanted to go Blonde for a while, but I’m honest with myself, I’d never be able to keep up with the maintaining.

My doctor told me it was OK to dye my hair after the first trimester, but I only get partial highlights just in case. Plus, they are much easier to maintain. I went lighter, and I’ll post pictures tomorrow!
