Part one: Weekend recap (baseball & baby furniture)
On Friday night, Michael and I went to a Charlotte Knights game with a large group of his co-workers.
Michael’s company events are always a lot of fun since he works with such nice people, and the game was no exception.
Luckily, it rained pretty heavily earlier in the evening and really cooled things off for us.
Of course, it was pretty humid, and I looked like Richard Simmons by the end of the game (minus the awesome workout shorts).
The whole group had dinner at the stadium, and I happily filled my plate with corn on the cob, a bun-free hamburger, and a salad.
I also had a really delicious chocolate chip cookie that made its way down the hatch without being photographed.
After the game, I confessed that I was sorry for not loading my purse with all of the leftover cookies. Being pregnant and all, I just might have gotten away with it.
Once Saturday morning rolled around, I was extremely pumped up about the arrival of our nursery furniture.
A 4-mile power walk and a yummy breakfast of Van’s waffles and egg whites served as a great distraction until the delivery folks arrived.
They were awesome and showed up right on time (probably because they’re used to dealing with crazy eager pregnant ladies).
I’m going to save the photos for my nursery reveal post (which will hopefully be up sooner rather than later), but I’ll give you a few sneaks peaks later this week because you’re all so wonderful.
I’ll tell you right now though that we both love the furniture so much. In fact, I cannot stop walking into the nursery to admire everything!
There was quite a bit of space between the crib and the chest of drawers at first, so Michael suggested that we buy a giant giraffe for that corner.
Less than 30 minutes later, we were in the car and on our way to Babies ‘R Us. They didn’t have any mega-sized giraffe stuffed animals out on the floor, but it turned out that they had just gotten a shipment of FAO Schwartz stuffed animals which included a large giraffe.
We waited on one of the employees to pull it out of the stock room, and before we knew it, we were walking this big fella out to the car.
What can I say? Our baby is spoiled already.
That evening, we grilled out, and then we continued the baseball theme and watched The Sandlot. It had been years and years since I’d seen it.
When I was younger, I had a crush on the actor who played the character of Benny. Thankfully, the attraction has disappeared through the years, especially since he was about 11 or 12 years old in the movie!
Who was your childhood crush? I also loved Joey McIntyre from The New Kids on the Block and Kirk Cameron from Growing Pains. I’m pretty sure that I wasn’t the only one!
I’ll be checking back on with part two of my weekend recap later this afternoon.
Have a great day!
