Due date & mini grocery store haul
Two new Publix stores just opened up in my local area this week, and one of these is extremely close to our house.
Well, there has been a giant, grand opening, countdown sign in front of that location for the past few weeks.
By coincidence, the store was scheduled to open today…on my due date.
Since the Publix is so close to home, I pass it nearly every day, and for me, the sign out of in front has served as a pregnancy countdown.
7 more days!
4 more days!
Being that this baby seems to be staying put for the time being, I figured that I might as well get up early and head on over to Publix this morning for their grand opening.
The store was completely mobbed (apparently new grocery stores are a pretty big deal around here), but I scored a parking space right up front. I was also greeted with two carnations- one for me and one for the bump.
The store is really beautiful, and I was so impressed with their organic produce selection. Even better, they have the best prices I’ve seen on Michael’s gluten-free bread (which normally costs a small fortune).
After checking out, I received a giant freezer bag filled with products from the store’s organic GreenWise line.
Because free food is always exciting to me, I was naturally quite happy with my loot.
While I was there, I also picked up a few things…
- Organic curly parsley (for juicing)
- Beets (for juicing)
- Chocolate Almond Breeze (for smoothies and homemade hot chocolate)
- Larabars in chocolate chip and cashew cookie (my all-time favorite flavor)
- Udi’s gluten-free bread
- Earth Balance spread
- Cored pineapple
I’ve been eating pineapple like mad lately. According to an old wives’ tale, it is supposed to induce labor. Sadly, the only effect I’ve seen is an increase in my heartburn.
I’ve also been juicing and drinking my green smoothies. Those always make me feel so good and energized. In fact, I’m going to haul out my juicer right now!

Have a great rest of the day!
