How I’m feeling 1 week postpartum
Time to play a little catch-up today…
MT and I took Michael to his first pediatrician visit on Monday morning.
It was so cute to watch him get examined, and despite the fact that the appointment interrupted his feeding time, he was such a little angel through the whole thing and didn’t make a peep.
I was a proud mama.
We left with a clean bill of health, and he’s looking strong and healthy.
As for me…
It’s already been one week (and a day) since I gave birth.
Emotionally, I couldn’t be any happier. I’m sure that I sound like Mary Poppins or Pollyanna to everyone these days, but it is the truth.
My heart goes out to anyone who is suffering or has suffered from postpartum depression. I simply cannot imagine being cheated out of this wonderful time.
I’m probably a bit over-emotional at the moment though with all those leftover pregnancy hormones flowing through my body, and I tend to get choked up when I talk about my son.
Lack of sleep probably has a bit to do with all of that too.
Although I am a little tired and have some bags under my eyes to prove it, I also feel fantastic physically.
I’m back to cooking, cleaning, and even driving (as of Tuesday). Although I sort of wish that I gave myself a longer hiatus from cleaning. 😉
Some people have asked about my post-pregnancy body and others have requested a post on how much I gained while pregnant and my current weight.
I didn’t really plan on doing a post discussing weight because I think it only leads to comparison, and as we all know, every woman (and every pregnancy) is different.
All I really have to say on the subject is that I bounced back very quickly, and I think it mostly has to do with the fact that I was a healthy person before pregnancy and continued to exercise (in moderation) and eat well (with a few splurges along the way) throughout my entire pregnancy.
My plan is to continue my healthy lifestyle, so I have plenty of energy to look after my sweet baby.
Although many women with lupus are able to breastfeed, my doctor and I agreed that it would be best if I bottle fed Michael. I swear that my body still thinks that we’re breastfeeding though because my appetite has been out of control!
Luckily, I seem to be mostly in the mood for healthy things (with the exception of brownies and pumpkin beer).
Hopefully, you’re not all on baby overload right now. I have lots of fun posts in the works about eating healthfully, juicing, organizing, natural cosmetics/skincare, and green cleaning, so please stay tuned!
Have a wonderful day!
