Beauty & health benefits of sea buckthorn oil

If you are a regular reader, you know that I am a beauty product junkie.  While my main weakness is MAC, I enjoy using natural products with healthy ingredients as much as possible, especially when it comes to skincare.

Lately, I’ve been loving anything and everything containing Himalayan sea buckthorn.

Because sea buckthorn contains omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9, it assists with collagen production and combats aging .  It can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I really like the Sibu sea buckthorn seed oil to heal wounds, burns, and scars.  It can also be used to treat eczema and dry skin and diminish age spots.  You can see my full review of it here.

I’ve also been loving the SeabuckWonders line, especially the facial cream, which really evens out my skin tone, and the deep hydrating serum because it gives my skin a really nice glow.

The line is vegan, paraben-free, and cruelty-free, so of course, that also makes me happy.

While I love using products containing sea buckthorn, I’ve been taking sea buckthorn oil internally ever since I had Michael.

(Since it is an herb, I didn’t want to take it while pregnant.)

Each day, I take several drops of sea buckthorn berry oil in a glass of seltzer water or in a smoothie to support gastrointestinal, skin, and dental health, liver function, and to nourish my cell membranes.

Other health benefits of taking the oil internally include:

  • Support of women’s health
  • Vision support & dry eye
  • Sun / UV stress
  • Weight management
  • Inflammation response

It’s probably too soon to tell if it is making a noticeable difference in my overall health, but I’ll be more than happy to report back in a month or so (if you’re interested).

Have you ever heard of sea buckthorn? Dr. Oz recently discussed it on his show, so I’m guessing it will become pretty mainstream within no time at all.

Have you ever tried any supplements or skincare products that contain the oil?  I’d love to hear what others think of it.

Have a wonderful day!

I love flax and chia seeds too. I always sprinkle flax on my Greek yogurt. :) Sea buckthorn gives you those Omega 7s though which are rare. Hope you have a great evening! :)

I will have to see if the new bag of flax I bought has the Omega 7s in it.
