Baby steps & healthy eats from the week

Happy Friday!

We have a lot planned for the weekend, so Monday’s weekend recap just might be a two-parter.

My in-laws are coming over for dinner tonight, so I have some groceries to pick up and a house to clean before they arrive.  Michael is sleeping right now, so I’ll have to get moving quickly before he wakes.

(I love that little face.)

Speaking of Michael and sleep…

For background, he’s been sleeping in our bedroom in his Moses basket ever since we brought him home from the hospital.   I’ve tried to put him down for naps in his crib a few times,  but he never tolerates being in there for more than a couple of minutes at a time.

Last night, Michael fell asleep on his daddy’s belly while we were watching The Big Bang Theory (hilarious episode, by the way), so MT thought it would be a good opportunity to put him down in his crib.

When MT and I decided to go to bed, Michael was still sound asleep in the nursery.

The thought of having him sleep in a separate room for the night coupled with seeing the empty Moses basket literally brought me to tears.

I just didn’t feel ready to let my 5-week old baby sleep away from me.

Even though it was difficult, I forced myself to let him sleep peacefully in his crib.  Much to my excitement, he did wake up about 45 minutes later and wouldn’t settle back down…so I just had to put him back in our room.

Baby steps (for the both of us)…

Since it is Friday, I’d normally do my “healthy eats of the week” post today.  However, none of my meals have been particularly exciting this week.

Going forward, I think that I might just do a monthly recap showcasing some of my noteworthy meals.  How does that sound?

A question to all of the mothers:  When did your baby start sleeping in his or her own room for the first time?  Please tell me that I’m not the only one who has found it difficult to let go.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I always began my babies in the nursery crib. After months of interrupted sleep, they all were put in my bed. I called it “sleep at any price”. The third held out til she was two and we were all sleeping in one room in Jordan. She is five now, and still sleeps with me. The child is too scared to sleep in her room. I know for a fact she will move to her room on her own before she is a teenager! Or maybe that is wishful thinking on my part. Ironically, she was so well sleep trained in her crib in America! ERRRRR

  2. Oh I forgot! My best trick for Layla was to sing the same song every naptime and bedtime right before she was put into the crib. After a few months, she would be asleep before I could finish the the song, and it was Twinkle, Twinkle little star.
