Weekend recap (sometimes all you can do is laugh)
This past weekend brought one gross, nasty, frustrating incident after another. I’m going to try my best not to get too graphic, but you might not want to read this post while you’re eating!
On Friday morning, I got up at 5 am to feed Michael. As soon as I stepped out of my bedroom, I smelled something pretty unpleasant.
I came downstairs to find that Lucy, who is still being crate trained, had diarrhea in her crate. It was all over the place- the crate, the walls, the floor, and of course, all over Lucy.
As you can imagine, the clean-up process was pretty long and brutal.
The vet said that Lucy probably had a reaction to the pain medication she was given after being spade on Monday and to stop giving it to her.
Even though we followed the vet’s orders, the same darn thing happened again later in the day.
Thankfully, poor Lucy made it through the night just fine, but the morning still included some nastiness…
Michael’s daughter got sick at the breakfast table and all over the bathroom.
(I’ll spare you any further details.)
She bounced back nearly immediately, but I ended up feeling pretty queasy myself.
Even so, MT and I went on a little date that evening to Mellow Mushroom. The baby tagged along too.
My meal was pretty good, but the best part was my much-deserved glass of wine.
As always, it was fun to have a little date with my husband, but the relaxing evening was just a distant memory by morning.
Lucy had another horrible accident in her crate, and later on in the day, I got sick.
(Again, I won’t elaborate.)
Somehow MT and I managed to do our normal Sunday night routine.
We watched Ted which was pretty funny but surprisingly sad (in my opinion). I just might be the only person who cried during that movie!
Unfortunately, it was back to chaos yesterday afternoon.
There I was, innocently writing out some cards at the granite island in our kitchen when my pen cap fell onto the floor.
I bent down to pick it up and smacked the top of my head on the island. It made a really loud pop, and I kind of stumbled around the kitchen for a few seconds in a state of confusion.
Once I got myself together, I leaned over the counter holding my head. A few seconds later, I noticed that there was blood on the counter and down my hands and arms.
When I looked into the mirror, I saw that I cut the top of my head somewhere underneath my hair.
Luckily, the baby was asleep while all of this was happening, and my in-laws and MT all arrived at the house quickly.
I felt a little off but opted not to go to the hospital, especially since the bleeding eventually stopped. Just to be safe, I spent the rest of the evening on the couch and refrained from carrying the baby.
I’m happy to tell you that everyone seems better today- even though I do have a pretty nasty headache and most likely a concussion as well.
It’s been pretty crazy over the past few days, but sometimes all you can do is laugh when these things happen. That being said, the universe better not test my sense of humor any more this week!
What did you do over the weekend? Have you seen the movie Ted?
I hope that you’re all having a great week so far!
