Appreciate the little things…
Every now and then, we’re reminded of just how precious life truly is (as well as the people who make it worth living).
Back in July, I received one of these reminders when my cousin Danielle passed away very unexpectedly.
When I heard the news from my mother, I had to ask her to repeat it twice.
Danielle had sent me a message only a few weeks earlier. She was planning her wedding. She was only in her 20s. She was sweet, fun-loving, and vibrant. How on earth could something like this happen?
It was just so hard to comprehend the fact that someone so young and beautiful could be taken away from this earth so suddenly.
And as a mother now myself, I cannot even imagine the tremendous sense of loss my Aunt must feel as a result of Danielle’s passing.
Despite the pain that she obviously still feels, my Aunt agreed to let me share this with you all today. She said that Danielle, who was a great supporter of this blog, would have liked it.
(The Trader Joe’s hauls were her favorite.)
But as pleased as I am to honor Danielle’s memory, she has done something greater for me (and hopefully for some of you as well)…
She has made me more appreciative of every little hug, smile, or kiss I receive from a loved one- and every single minute I get to spend with them.
Because while these things might all seem little at the time, someday these will be the biggest moments of our lives.
In loving memory of Danielle Grady
One of Danielle’s friends has created a beautiful chiffon flower headband in her memory which will fit a baby girl. If you’d like to know more about these headbands, you can visit Monkeybugz on Etsy.

Erin you have learned a life lesson that will bring you years of happiness. Hold your loved ones close, love every minute you have with friends and family. Thank you for sharing my beautiful Danielle’s memory. I love you!
I love you too!
I’m so sorry for your loss, Erin!
Beautiful post- she has such a brightness – Danielle would be honored:)I think one main reason me and Mr. Craves bonded in the beginning of our relationship is because we both came close to losing our mothers (when he was 15 and when I was 19). Grab Life & Live It Everyday!!! Have a Great One:)
You’re so right- “grab life and live it everyday” is a great motto!
I’m so glad Donna gave me the link to your blog
Such a sweet post Erin…so true that Danielle reminds us all on a daily basis how precious life’s moments are. I will never forget her bright smile, husky cute voice, and kind heart. Thanks for mentioning our Monkey Bugz Danielle Flower Headband. We love thinking of her each time we make them. Take Care!
You’re so welcome. You did such a beautiful job with the headband. Danielle would have loved it.
