My current morning skin care routine

As promised, today’s post is all about my morning skin care routine.

(There will be a separate post soon on my nighttime routine and one on the supplements that I take for my skin as well).

Just for background, my skin is prone to dryness, and it’s pretty sensitive especially to the sun.  Hydration and anti-aging properties are the two main benefits that I look for in a product.

My Current Morning Skin Care Routine

(This list excludes the products that I use on my body.)

1.  Sea Buckthorn Exfoliating Facial Cleanser

This is a very gentle cleanser that lightly exfoliates the skin.  I love the smell of this cleanser and how invigorated my face feels after using it.

2.  Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Toner, Sensitive Skin

There’s not much to say about this toner except that it keeps my skin clean…and…um…clear.  It also minimizes the appearance of my pores.

3. Sea Buckthorn Deep Hydrating Serum

I only recently got into using serums, and they are a gift from the heavens for anyone who suffers from dry skin.  They will be a part of my routine always and forever.  I find that this particular serum also has a brightening effect.

4.  Sibu Nourishing Facial Cream

I gently pat this into my skin after using the serum.  Together those two products deliver the perfect amount of moisture.

5.  Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask

This mask is incredible for getting all of the gunk out of my pores.  I use it once a week- usually on the weekend.   It makes my skin feel so clean and refreshed.

6.  Reviva Labs Light Skin Peel

I’ll start my routine with this peel about 1-2 times per week.  It’s a great way to remove dead skin cells and brighten my complexion.  It’s also light, so it doesn’t cause redness or irritation.

7.  Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair (for eyes)

I’m a pretty cheerful person and smile a lot.  That’s a good thing except for the fact that I have some crow’s feet as a result of all that smiling.   Since I don’t intend on wearing a permanent frown, I dab a little of this cream around my eyes each morning to protect the area and diminish the lines a bit.

This routine is really working for me right now, so my plan is to stick with it (even if I am tempted to try new products).

  1. I have to admit that I don’t really have a morning skincare routine – other than just washing my face with whatever soap is closest.

This list will be a good place for me to start.

  2. I’ve been using a brightening cleanser from Apothederm http://apothederm.com/shop-products/brightening-acne/brightening-cleanser/ and it’s been working wonders on my skin!

    • That’s wonderful! I love products that brighten the skin. I just checked this out, and it sounds like something I’d love. I might have to try it as a morning cleanser. :)
