The Honest Company (customer service & products)

I know, I know…

Another post about The Honest Company.  I swear that I’m not affiliated with the company in any way, and I haven’t been paid to mention them a billion times- or even at all.

However, I was asked by several readers to discuss what I think of their products, so I thought I’d do one last review.

Any more reviews, and I will be requesting a commission from Jessica Alba. ;)

The Honest Company

I’m subscribed to receive the family essentials bundle.

(Diapers & wipes and health & wellness bundles are also available.)

With this bundle, I’m able to select any five products that I’d like each month for a flat rate of $35.95, and I have the option to select up to three add-ons for a discounted price.   I can also choose whether I’d like to receive my bundle every 4, 6, or 8 weeks.

The website is very easy to navigate, and it is a breeze to make changes to your settings.

Here’s an example of what your account dashboard might look like:

So far, I’ve gotten and used the following products:

Laundry detergent

Dish soap (white grapefruit)

Dishwasher gel

Dish soap

Bug spray

Fruit & veggie wash

Multi-surface cleaner

Sunscreen SPF 30

Shampoo & body wash

Healing balm (great for diaper rash)

I’ve been very satisfied with everything that I’ve tried.  The fact that the products don’t really have a strong fragrance does take some getting used to, but I just remind myself that chemicals usually come along with a lot of scented products anyway.

The Honest Company products

The standout products for me (so far) have been the body wash and the multi-surface cleaner.  I use the wash on myself and on Michael’s very sensitive skin, and I’m being completely truthful when I say that the multi-surface cleaner is the best that I’ve ever used.  It is great on my granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and wood surfaces.

I go through it like crazy!

Speaking of the cleaner, the first time that I got it in the mail half of the bottle had spilled out all over the box, and it completely ruined my copy of Jessica Alba’s book (which was included in the same shipment).

I called The Honest Company’s customer service, and they were so incredibly sweet, friendly, and apologetic.  They shipped off a new bottle and a new book with no questions asked.

Well, some time went by, and I still hadn’t gotten my package in the mail, so I called customer service again.

Once more, they were just wonderful and told me that the same thing happened again with Fed Ex, and they rushed my items to me immediately.  Sure, it was a bummer that the cleaner leaked in the first place, but they couldn’t have been more accommodating.

And just to let you know, I was informed that they’ve since figured out a way to repackage their products before they are shipped, so they aren’t harmed in transit.

To date, I’ve gotten two bundles, and I definitely plan to continue the service.  In fact, I’ve already added the toilet cleaner, body lotion, and floor cleaner to next month’s delivery and cannot wait to try them!

This subscription service is just perfect for anyone who is concerned about keeping toxins out of their home and/or those who do not want to use harsh products on their little ones.  I’d actually love to try their diapers and wipes when my existing stash runs out.

Oh and if you’re not into subscription services, I’ve learned that some stores will actually be carrying part of the line soon, including The Baby Grocery Store!

I hope that this was informative.  If you have any questions that I didn’t address, just leave them in the comments, and I’ll answer them for you.

Have a great day!

I’ve never heard anything bad about it either. It is rare that you find such a great company, so I’m definitely a loyal customer!

  2. Thanks for the through review, Erin. I am definitely a big fan of The Honest Company. I’ve reach an excerpt of the book and have many friends who use the products. I’ve been contemplating how or what to purchase (I’m not a mother and my boyfriend doesn’t care what kind of cleaners we use lol). This review will be very helpful when I make my first purchase!

I’m glad that it was helpful to you! I’d recommend the sunblock, body wash, and maybe the lotion for you. They also have lip balm and soy candles which I’d love to try! :)

  3. Learning more about getting green in the home is on my list of things to do. Your posts always inspire me to think a little more about it :)

Hopefully, they will start shipping to Canada eventually because I think you’d love them. I’ll have have to write to Jessica and tell her to get on that. LOL.

  7. You convinced me to order a bundle! Ian has super sensitive skin so I’m hoping the body wash will do the trick and he wont be struggling as much this summer. Thanks for the review.

  10. Yeah I also trust on honest company products as they are providing the organic products which doesn’t cause any harm.

  11. I’ve had the exact opposite experience with honest company, while I likelier products their customer service is awful. When my detergent spilled they gave me a hard time, told me they were working on improving their shipping packaging.. After multiple requests to be compensated they gave me ten percent off my next shipment. When my diapers were lost in the mail, I had to wait two weeks to get a new box. I have twins in diapers!,,!,

Oh, that’s awful! I am so sorry to hear that you had that experience. I actually stopped getting the monthly delivery because the baby store near my house carries the line. Perhaps they are going downhill now? My sister has twins too by the way. :)
