My latest grocery store finds
As you know, I tend to stick to the same staples when I go grocery shopping. But I must be feeling more adventurous these days because I’ve picked up quite a few new things.
Most of them were winners, but as you’ll see, there were a couple of disappointments in the mix.
1. Trader Joe’s Roasted Coconut Chips (aka Disappointment #1)
I’ve seen a few other bloggers raving about these lately, and it really got me excited to try them. Unfortunately, they weren’t at all what I was expecting. I thought they’d look more like banana chips, but they were basically just large pieces of shaved coconut. I wasn’t really even sure what to do with them. Eat them like chips? Sprinkle them onto yogurt or oatmeal? They were also a bit too sweet. Basically, I wasn’t a fan and won’t be purchasing them again.
2. ALT Bar in Lemon Pound Cake (aka Disappointment #2)
I like lemons, and I like pound cake. But I guess that I don’t like lemon pound cake. In all fairness, I think that the bar I got was a bit stale because it was pretty dry and crumbly.
3. Uber Bar in Coconut Macaroon
This bar was anything but a disappointment. In fact, it was even better than I thought it would be. If you haven’t tried this flavor yet, run to the store as fast as you can and pick one up!
4. Earth Fare Mushroom Rice Burger
I really love the taste of these burgers, but they are much better when they are heated on the grill or on the stove top. When the patties are microwaved, they have a weird consistency that I do not like at all. They’re wonderful on salads and in wraps when cooked properly, and they are very convenient.
5. Good Food Made Simple Steel Cut Oatmeal
You’re probably thinking, “How lazy can you be?”, but I actually picked this up for our trip this weekend. Our “top secret” activity calls for lots of easy to prepare meals, and I thought that this oatmeal would be just perfect for breakfast. Obviously, I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll let you know what I think once I do (if you’re interested).
6. Trader Joe’s Strawberry Chia Smoothie
I normally don’t buy pre-made smoothies, but this little bottle was just calling my name. I’m glad that I have zero willpower because the drink was really refreshing and delicious. I’m sure that I could easily make it at home though and save a few bucks in the future.
Have you picked up anything new at the grocery store lately? Please share!
Enjoy the rest of your day!
