My Oil Pulling Journey: Week Three

I can hardly believe that I’m into my fourth week of oil pulling already.  As you’ll see by my recap, I’m completely hooked. Possibly for life.

Day Fifteen

Even though I’m completely into oil pulling, I had a difficult time that morning.  I think that I might have gotten a bit overly ambitious and used too much oil.  I “survived” for about 12 minutes before spitting out the oil, but I did pull later that evening for an additional 15 minutes.  (Both times with sesame oil.)

Day Sixteen

Apparently, chugging too much oil has become a problem.  I put way too much olive oil in my mouth this morning and immediately had to spit out half of it.  After I did that, however, I was able to swish for 20 minutes without a problem.  I also pulled for 5 minutes later that afternoon and for 15 more before bed.  I’m an oil pulling machine!

Day Seventeen

I swished the oil for 22 minutes with sesame oil in the morning because I lost track of time.  I also did it again with coconut oil for 10 minutes before bed.  I still prefer the sesame oil over the olive oil and coconut oil for some reason.

Day Eighteen

I pulled for 20 minutes in the morning with olive oil and 15 minutes with sesame oil before bed.

Day Nineteen

Since I hadn’t used it all that much during the week, I swished for 15 minutes with coconut oil. I still insist that it is the most difficult and that the oil disappears somehow.  I don’t know if I’m swallowing it or what!  I pulled again that afternoon for 10 minutes while cleaning our master bathroom and for 20 minutes with sesame oil before bed while folding laundry.

Day Twenty

I swished with sesame oil in the morning for 20 minutes and before bed for 20 minutes.

Day Twenty-One

I swished with olive oil for 25 minutes that morning (and obviously really lost track of time!), for 5 minutes that afternoon, and for 10 minutes before bed.

 

I truly mean it when I say that I can see myself oil pulling forever.  I actually look forward to it each day!  It has made my mouth feel much cleaner.  In fact, I don’t wake up with morning breath anymore.  My teeth are whiter, my skin is clearer, and I think that I even have a bit more energy (something I desperately needed).

There has also been one more major change that I plan to share in next week’s recap. It’s pretty impressive! ;)

  2. I’m really fascinated by this Erin. I kind of want to try it, but I’m fearful I won’t have time to do the swishing for so long and that I’ll swallow some. Really interesting though!

    There are some days when I don’t make it to 20 minutes because of time issues, but seriously, as long as you can last is better than nothing! Morning time is ideal, but if you can only squeeze it in during nap time, I think that’s probably fine too. :)

  4. The idea intrigues me. And I DO have a plethora of coconut and palm oil on hand. Hrmmm….

    Let me know if you try it! I am still horrible about doing it with coconut oil and find it so difficult for some reason.
