{Updated} 5-minute face routine

Despite having a little one, getting ready in the morning has always been a pretty simple process.  We store a basket of waterproof toys in our bathroom to keep Michael occupied, and that always seemed to work really well.  When I’d turn on my hair dryer, he’d sit by my feet looking up at me with wonder.   He was even mesmerized by watching me use my eyelash curler.

Birds weren’t landing on our windowsill singing morning tunes to us or anything like a scene right out of Cinderella, but the whole process was pretty close to perfect.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and the routine has changed just slightly over the past few months.

It all started to go south when Michael discovered how to turn on the bathtub.  It got really bad when he figured out that he could throw things into the tub and watch as they got covered in water.  We’re talking the toys in his basket, our bath and hand towels, dirty clothes in the hamper, the lid to the hamper (we’ve since had to replace the entire hamper), my hair products, my shoes….

If it’s in his possession, it’s a pretty safe bet that it will eventually end up in the tub.

Then he discovered that he can open the door to the room with the toilet.  And for some reason, the door simply pushes open.  Since the knob doesn’t need to be turned, childproofing items just don’t cut it.

Getting ready quickly is kind of a must now, so I’ve got my 5-minute face routine down to a science.  (You can see my original routine here.)

5 minute face routine

1.  IT Cosmetics Anti-Aging Full Coverage Physical SPF 50 CC Cream (in the shade light)

This cream covers, corrects, and protects the skin, and it is definitely the best beauty product discovery that I’ve made in a long time.  I’m dying to try more products from this line!

2.  Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Dollface

Even though I am a major blush addict and own quite a lot of them, Dollface is my go-to blush when I am looking for just a subtle flush of color.

3.  e.l.f. Studio Eyebrow Kit & Brow Clear Mascara

My eyebrows are really blonde, so I cannot skip this step if I want to look semi-pulled together.  I know that there are lots of expensive high end gels on the market, but for a buck, this one keeps my brows in place well enough.

4. Stila Eye Shadow Compact in Kitten

This is a cult favorite, and it isn’t hard to understand why.  I love the champagne color because it instantly makes me look more awake.

5.  Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara

I’m not really loyal to any one mascara, but I’ve been using this one for several weeks now and like it just fine.  I wiggle the wand very close to the base and work my way up and find that I can get get away without eyeliner.

6.  Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine

This lip butter gives me a tiny bit of color and keeps my lips feeling moisturized.  Perfect when I’m in a rush and don’t want totally bare lips.

And that’s my extremely basic routine.  I’d say I wear my makeup this way about five days a week.  If I’m going out to eat or want to look a bit more presentable, I’ll definitely use more products.  A lot more products! ;)

Do you have a quick go-to makeup routine?  If so, what are your staples?

It’s always fun trying to find a quick routine, isn’t it?

  2. I keep saying I am going to buy some of that blush! Once I run out of my MAC I will!

  3. I want to add a few lip glosses or butters to my cache of products – like to feel a little more girly some days.
