Life Lately: 2 Months Postpartum

Happy Friday!

It is hard to believe, but Addison turned two months old this week.  I thought that it would be a great time to do a life update to let you know how my little family is doing.

Addison

How Addison is doing…

Addison is a very sweet, cuddly, tolerant baby. We’re very lucky that she has such an easy-going disposition considering how her brother is always in her face and/or making tons of noise.  She did go through a collicky period for about the first 6 weeks, but thankfully, it was just for an hour or so every evening.  She also had some acid reflux issues.  They have gone away, but back when it was still bothering her, she wanted to be held around the clock.  Wearing her in an Ergo during the day was a lifesaver, but I did spend many nights sleeping upright on the couch.  I don’t miss that at all!  She’s still sleeping in our room and usually goes into her bassinet at around 9 pm. After that, she will normally wake between 1 am and 3 am and then she is up by 6 am for the day. There are nights when she wakes up one other time, but even so, it could be worse!

How Michael is doing…

I think that Michael felt a little attention starved in the beginning- especially during the period when Addison insisted on being held nonstop- but he seems to love having a sibling now.  He smiles from ear to ear when he sees her (although he isn’t a fan of her crying).  MT and I always make sure that he doesn’t ever feel ignored, and on the weekends, we will each spend some alone time with him.

How Mommy and Daddy are doing…

In the beginning, I felt very overwhelmed.  Having two children under the age of two is way more challenging than I naively thought it would be.  I tried to juggle everything on my own, and I always felt as though I could never give both children adequate attention.  MT was always more than willing to help out, and once I came to the realization that I was a fool for not taking him up on it, things got much easier.

How I’m feeling physically…

Despite being pretty exhausted by the end of the day, I feel really good. I am able to squeeze in workouts a few times a week, and I am having so much fun wearing normal clothes.  I cannot say that I miss maternity clothes even one tiny bit!  I’m taking lots of vitamins (more on that in another post), and I’m eating a healthy balanced diet which helps to keep my energy up.

Basically, things are definitely crazy at times, but I really cannot complain. It truly gets easier every day- which I hope gives any future second time moms out there some encouragement. :)

You probably noticed that I was a little absent in the blog world this week, but I plan to get back into the swing of things in full force next week.

Have a great weekend!
