What to Try: LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics
[Please note: This is not a sponsored post. However, some of the products mentioned below were sent to me for consideration.]
The first time that I ever visited a LUSH store was many years ago in San Francisco. After reading about how much celebrities loved their products, I was just dying to try them out for myself. However, I felt very overwhelmed when I got to the store and left empty handed. There were just so many fabulous scents, soaps, and creams, and I didn’t know what to choose!
After lots of research (or shopping) since then, I have found some great gems in the store. If you’re a LUSH newbie, I hope that this will give you a starting point. I apologize in advance for triggering any future LUSH shopping addictions.
(Note to all the Charlotte area ladies: A LUSH store will be opening up at the South Park Mall in early July 2014!)
This is my very favorite lip balm. It smells of honey and vanilla and makes my lips feel soft and hydrated. I keep a tub of it on my bedside tables and apply it each night before I go to sleep, and my lips always feel so smooth the next morning.
Dream Cream is meant for “sensitive, troubled” skin, and with its clean scent and hydrating properties, it isn’t hard to see why this is a #1 seller. Dream Cream is great for healing cracked dry elbows, knees, and feet- which I appreciate during this time of the year when all of those areas are on display.
This isn’t your typical body lotion. You’re actually supposed to apply it in the shower after washing and then rinse it off when you’re done. The result is silky smooth skin, and it is a great product for replenishing the skin after soaking up the sun. I’m pretty picky when it comes to rose scented products because most of them remind me of my grandma. No offense to over eighty crowd. I like this scent a lot though and don’t find it to be a bit overpowering.
4. Ocean Salt
If you use fake tanning products, this face and body scrub is a great way to prep the skin before applying the lotion or spray. It contains sea salt, coconut, and avocado, so it removes dead skin and nourishes it as well.
I’m a huge fan of this face and back mask. It does a fantastic job of removing gunk from the pores, and my face always feels so fresh and clean after I use it. It smells very strongly of peppermint, which some people might not like. I actually find that it is quite invigorating and really enjoy the scent. At just under $25, it is also a lot cheaper than so many other face masks on the market.
6. Sex Bomb
I’m normally not a bath person, but I just couldn’t leave out LUSH’s signature bath bombs (which are pretty much the only things that will entice me to soak in the tub). Some of the bath bombs even have prizes inside of them! Sex Bomb has a jasmine scent, and after taking a bath with it, you’ll feel so relaxed.
(The name of this bath bomb should link some interesting Google searches to my blog.)
This product is such a time saver. It exfoliates the skin, and it also moisturizes at the same time. You don’t even have to apply lotion after using it! I have to admit that part of the appeal to me is the name. I was a big Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan back in the day, and I know that I cannot possibly be alone on that one.
This is my all-time favorite soap from LUSH. I just cannot resist the scent or the fact that it looks like a piece of honey comb. It makes me feel nice and clean, but although it softens the skin, I do find that it can be a bit drying. Still, it is nothing that a little Dream Cream can’t fix. 😉
If you’re new to LUSH, I definitely recommend starting off with some of these products. I also suggest reading reviews online first and going into the store with a list. Otherwise, you might suffer from product overload!
Do you ever shop at LUSH? If so, what are your favorite products to buy from there?
