Why I blog (a virtual blog tour)
There are so many wonderful benefits of being a blogger, and I have to say that the very best one of all is meeting some fantastic people. In fact, I met the majority of my friends in Charlotte through blogging!
Char, one of my sweet blogging friends, who writes at Char Eats Greens recently asked me to participate in a virtual blog tour. I was very flattered and thought that it sounded like a fun way for you to get to know me just a little bit better.
In case you aren’t familiar with Char’s blog:
Char is a recent nutrition graduate who also doubles as a stay-at-home-mom to a 1.5 year old in Ontario, Canada. Her blog, Char Eats Greens, is where she tries to convert you all into kale lovers, running addicts, Starbucks drinkers, and nutrition nuts! When she’s not busy creating fun and fresh plant-based meals in the kitchen, you can guarantee that she’s out enjoying the sunshine with her adorable little girl and trying to live in an as natural, eco-friendly, and green world as she can! Also, look for her on Facebook or Twitter!
As part of this blog tour, I am supposed to answer 4 questions, so here it goes…
What am I working on?
So much! I have some fun giveaways in the works, lots of great recipes, and even some DIY posts. I’m also hoping to film more videos for my neglected You Tube channel. You can expect to see grocery shopping hauls, my meals, and maybe even an occasional vlog-type video there. I am pretty excited about it all! As some of you may already know, I am very interested in Ayurveda (thanks to my fondness for oil pulling), and I intend to post more on that topic.
How does my work differ from others in the genre?
Well, I am probably the only healthy living blogger who doesn’t like nut butters! In all seriousness, I think that what makes me stand out a bit in the health and fitness community is that I am not a runner, don’t practice yoga, and do not belong to a gym. I’m a mother of two who works out at home, and I try to squeeze some activity into my day wherever and whenever I can. As far as the beauty community goes, the fact that I use a lot of natural products makes me a bit unique. Honestly though, I never compare my blog to the blogs of others. I write what comes naturally to me and just try to maintain my own voice- whether that makes me popular or not.
(Edited to add: How could I forget? My obsession with Lionel Richie probably makes me stand out just a touch!)
Why do I write what I do?
I’ve always been passionate about the subjects that you find on my blog. When I first started writing, I had just become certified as a health coach, so I focused mainly on healthy living. One day it dawned on me that I could write about anything! I decided to incorporate all of my loves, such as family, beauty, style, green living, and things I’d discuss with my girlfriends. The blog basically gives me a creative outlet and an identity outside of being a mom, and I am so thankful.
How does my writing process work?
I take a lot of inspiration from every day life and the things that are of interest to me at the time. I also tend to get ideas in the middle of the night when I am up feeding Addison, so I’m constantly making notes on my phone at 2 am. I never write if I am not feeling inspired. I’d rather put out content that I believe in rather than writing just for the sake of it because I always want my posts to be genuine.
