2015 Favorites (green beauty, health, & food)

I’m going to be totally predictable here and start off by saying how I cannot believe 2015 is almost over.  Some big wonderful things happened to my family this year- MT started a new job that he loves, we bought a new house, and even better, we welcomed our third child into our hearts.

It was also an important year for The Grass Skirt. I officially switched over to the clean living community and gave the blog a little makeover.  In just a few weeks, this blog will be 5 years old!  I’m really excited about year five, and I have lots of exciting things planned in order to keep growing and spreading the importance of living more naturally.

I discovered a lot of great products over the course of the past year, and I had a blast sharing them with you.  It really makes my day when one of you will tell me that you tried and loved something that I recommended. I hope you know that I never suggest something that I don’t truly believe in.

Anyway, I decided to round up the best of the best in this post, so you can see my top recommendations all in one place.  Let me tell you though, this was not an easy exercise!  It was so hard to choose among my favorites, but I really tried to go with the things that really stood out and came to mind immediately.  Enjoy!

2015 Favorites- nontoxic

Native Spring Aroma Essential Oil Diffuser

Originally featured in my How to Keep the Air in Your Home Clean post

There isn’t anything fancy about this oil diffuser, but it works great and you cannot beat the price.  I use it every single day, and I definitely fell in love with using essential oils this past year.

TOX-SICK: From Toxic to Not Sick

Originally featured in my May 8, 2015 Favorites

This book taught me so much about my body and how to deal with my rheumatoid arthritis, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.  If you want to learn more about it, definitely read my original post!

Rosehip Seed Oil

Originally featured in my September 2015 Favorites

If you add one thing to your skin care routine in the new year, let it be rosehip seed oil (especially if you’re starting to see some lovely fine lines and wrinkles).  It has made such a significant difference in some of my smile lines and the “11” that used to be in between my brows.

Kypris Antioxidant Dew

Originally featured in my Morning Skincare Routine post

Antioxidant Dew is lightweight yet moisturizing enough to keep dry skin like mine hydrated without the need for another moisturizer. It doesn’t clog the pore and also gives the skin a healthy glow.  This will be a holy grail for a long long time.

Kypris Clearing Serum

Originally featured in my Morning Skincare Routine post

Speaking of holy grail products, I don’t ever want to be without this stuff.  If you suffer from breakouts, you must try it.  It clears mine within a day or two!

Mermaid Mask by Leahlani Skincare

Originally featured in my October 2015 Favorites

The Mermaid Mask is my go-to mask lately.  It always soothes my skin and makes it look youthful and healthy.

Lotus Wei

Originally featured in a brand spotlight on December 21, 2015

I love Lotus Wei far too much to sum it up in just a few sentences, so I definitely encourage you to read my original post.

Eco Brow

Originally featured in my October 2015 Favorites

Until I discovered Eco Brow, I never thought that I’d love anything as much as the Anastasia Brow Wiz.  This stuff is awesome.

Hurraw! Balm Lip Balm Vanilla Bean

Originally featured in my How I Keep My Lips Moisturized in the Winter post

This lip balm is cheap, moisturizing, smells fantastic, and is much safer than most anything you can find in the drugstore.  That is why I hoard them and keep them all over the house and in my purse.

Fruit Pigmented Pomegranate Oil Anti Aging Lipstick: Calendula

Originally featured in my October 2015 Favorites

This is such a wearable every day shade- or at least I hope that is how it translates because I truly do wear it almost every day!

Red Apple Lipstick Audrey

Originally featured in my January 23, 2015 Favorites

Like Calendula, this pinky nude lipstick is great for daytime wear. The photo makes it look very pink, so don’t let that scare you.  It is definitely not bubble gum pink.

Bark Thins

Originally featured in my October 2015 Favorites

These are one of my favorite after dinner treats…and now that I gave birth to Megan,  I can enjoy them with a little red wine.

Greens Plus Organic Superfood in Amazon Chocolate

Originally featured in my September 2015 Favorites

I still continue to add this powder to my smoothies several times a week- even when I include fresh greens as well.  You can never have enough greens!  Speaking of greens, you can definitely taste them a bit with this powder, but it’s not as overpowering as some other similar brands that I’ve used in the past.  The packets are super convenient for travel or when you’re on the go, too!

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing

Originally featured in my May 29, 2015 Favorites

This book really is life-changing- or at the very least, extremely  valuable. I’m not one to hold onto junk, clutter, or things that I don’t need, but even I learned that I could still make some progress in that area.  I cannot think of a better book to read to kick off the new year.

fitbit

Originally featured in my January 9, 2015 Favorites

Since I wrote my original post, I got the fitbit Charge HR and retired my Flex because it basically fell apart.  Maybe from overuse?  Regardless, I still love having a fitbit because they really do encourage me to be active (as though I have a choice with three small children!). My only gripe is that the Flex bands are hard to put on and come undone, but I don’t have that issue at all with the Charge.

What were your very favorite products of 2015?  Please share and have a very happy New Year!
