Beauty Brand Spotlight: Kari Gran

(Please note:  This post contains some affiliate links.  However, I have not been paid to write a review of the brand and its products.)

I try not to switch up my skin care too often because I don’t want to freak out my face (I’m sure you feel me), but I recently received some Kari Gran products from The Choosy Chick, one of my very favorite green beauty resources.  By the way, I’m going to devote an entire post to The Choosy Chick within the next few weeks.

Anyway, I heard many great things about the Kari Gran cleansing system, so I was really excited to try the starter kit with the hopes that my skin would love it and not retaliate by breaking out like crazy.

Before I give any spoilers about the products and my reaction to them, I’d like to tell you a little bit about the brand. Kari Gran’s products a paraben and toxin-free and made with high “quality natural, organic, wildharvested and non-GMO ingredients” (as quoted from the official website).

The line is pricier than drugstore brands, but cheaper than many higher-end green beauty brands.  In other words, I’d say that they are mid-range in terms of pricing…but with a higher end feel.

Beauty brand spotlight on Kari Gran

If you’re curious about the brand but aren’t ready to commit to any full-sized products, the starter kit is definitely for you.  It is also great for travel. It comes with three products: cleansing oil (15 ml), lavender or rose hydrating tonic (15 ml), and essential serum (10 ml).

Cleansing oil

This can be used on any skin type, and I can tell you first-hand that it is awesome on dry skin.  It is actually quite thick and richer than a lot of other cleansing oils that I’ve tried in the past.  The instructions say to use this just once a day (at night).  While it does a good job of removing makeup, I still recommend using a separate eye makeup remover.  I don’t wear heavy eye makeup and still had raccoon eyes after washing my face with just the oil.  That being said, I will absolutely purchase the full size bottle.

Hydrating tonic

This is my favorite of the three products in the kit.  It is fresh, moisturizing, and my skin just soaks it right up!  It also gives my skin a beautiful glow.  I did read that you can also use it to set mineral makeup- though I have not done that yet.

Essential serum

I’m a really big sucker for serums, and this one is so luxurious.  It is very hydrating and doesn’t make my face look greasy (even during the day).  I don’t know if it would work under all foundations, so if you do wear it in the daytime, you might want to follow-up with a primer.

I have to admit that I was really missing my Paula’s Choice products, and it looks like Kari Gran is going to fill that void (toxin-free!).  In fact, I’m absolutely dying to get the lip whips next and some of the mineral makeup as well.

And I am pleased to report that, after using the starter kit for the full two weeks, I had no unfavorable reactions.
