Breakfast time check-in: Chocolate cherry green smoothie

You’re probably tired of hearing me go on and on about how much I love smoothies, but I’m going to say it one more time…

I love smoothies!

I’m still drinking them for breakfast, and I’d say that they’ve consistently been part of my morning routine for the past three months or so.

As you’ll be able to tell by the description of today’s smoothie, I try to load as many healthy things into my blender as I possibly can.

Occasionally, that does result in smoothie eruptions which is part of the reason why I don’t get dressed for the day until after I’ve made breakfast.

Chocolate Cherry Green Smoothie

3-4 ice cubes

1 tablespoon organic cacao powder with maca

1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I’d normally use chocolate almond milk, but I was out of it this morning.)

1 tablespoon ground flax seed

1 scoop of vanilla pea protein powder

Half a banana

2 huge overflowing handfuls of spinach

1/4 cup pitted frozen cherries

1 teaspoon of liquid chlorophyll (optional)

Dash of cinnamon

2 drops of liquid chocolate stevia

 

If you decide to make this  for yourself, I’d suggest using chocolate protein powder if you have it.  The only powder I have is vanilla flavored, but it still tastes great just the same.

  1. That looks good! Almost like a shake! May I ask what kind of blender you use? I would make more green smoothies but my blender has such a tough time cutting through chunks of frozen fruit and the like

    • Hi Josie! I have a Vitamix. They are ridiculously expensive, but you can order them on easy pay through QVC. 🙂 If you like smoothies, they’re worth every penny because they truly can blend anything.
