Breakfast time check-in & my Cara Box reveal

Maybe the blow that I took to the head on Saturday has me a little thrown off because I woke up this morning craving autumn foods like sweet potato and pumpkin.

Being that I hoard canned pumpkin in my pantry all year-round, I decided to use some of it to make a creamy, green, pumpkin smoothie.

Green Pumpkin Smoothie

pumpkin smoothie

  • 2 giant handfuls of spinach
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 cup organic canned pumpkin
  • 2-3 drops liquid vanilla stevia
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • pinch of xanthan gum for thickening
  • 4 ice cubes

Since I’ll have to finish off the whole can of pumpkin, my breakfast will probably be so two seasons ago for the next few days.

About a month or so ago, I joined in a blogger gift exchange called Cara Box hosted by Kaitlyn of Wifessionals.

With Cara Box, each participant is paired up with two bloggers.  She receives a box from one and sends one to another.

(You can read more about how it works here.)

Kaitlyn started Cara Box as a way to combine her love for getting things in the mail with meeting new women and providing encouragement to fellow bloggers.

This month’s theme was “Go Green” (very appropriate for Spring and Earth Day).

My box arrived yesterday from Lizzie of What I Love, and it was such a great surprise.  I had been so focused on putting a box together for my other match that I totally forgot I’d be receiving one myself!

Anyway, the package that I received from Lizzie was awesome.  She even included a dog toy for Lucy (who has been playing with it ever since the package arrived).

The rest of the box was a beautiful representation of Spring:

  • A Water Lily & Aloe candle (It smells so good- even MT likes it!)
  • A beautiful journal that I am going to use to record ideas for the blog
  • Plantable seed paper (such a neat idea!)
  • A framed quote that reads: “You are wonderful, beautiful, loved & adored.”

Baby nursery quote

I thought the quote was so sweet that I actually put the frame in the nursery. It looks so perfect on Michael’s nightstand.

Thank you so much, Lizzie!

I had so much fun with Cara Box and cannot wait to do it again next month.

What was the last surprise you received in the mail?

Is anyone else in favor of Fall foods all year long?

Have a great day!

  4. omg I have the Water Lily & Aloe candle and it is my favorite scent! It keeps my living room smelling fresh and is such a nice gender neutral smell (the boys were getting sick of me picking out floral scents lol). Hope you enjoy it as much as I!

  7. Wow! What a great package! I interpreted the theme as “eco-friendly stuff”, but I love that she went “color/garden” with it. And how sweet to include a toy! 😀

    • As you’ll see when you get your box, I interpreted the theme as eco-friendly stuff too. 🙂 I love what Lizzie thought of though!
