Get gorgeous lashes without fancy serums or extensions

If you look at the ingredient labels of many popular lash serums, you will probably find castor oil listed.  It got me thinking and several months ago, I decided to apply straight up castor oil to my lashes every night before bed to see if there was any impact. I’ve been doing it consistently since then about 4 nights per week at a minimum. (FYI- This is the one that I use.) There isn’t much science behind what I do.  I just take either a clean mascara wand or a Q-tip, dip in castor oil and lightly apply to my top lashes starting...

Links I’m loving lately| Trader Joe’s, beauty, DIY & more

The number of bookmarks saved on my laptop has gotten pretty out of control lately, so I thought it was time for a little clean-up.  While going through the list, I realized that a lot of what I bookmarked is definitely worth sharing with you. Enjoy!  10 Healthiest Frozen Foods You Can Buy at Trader Joe’s As much as I love Trader Joe’s, it is a big misconception that everything you’ll find there is healthy.  They don’t stock the store with foods that contain high fructose corn syrup and other nasty ingredients, but...

Lip scrubs to address any beauty concern

Lip scrubs to address any beauty concern

Over the course of the summer, the sun can really take a beating on our lips leaving them burned and dehydrated.  Then the cooler months roll around and all of that wind and crisp air can make them dry and chapped. A few weeks ago, I wrote about some of my favorite exfoliating products for the face.  Well, it is every bit as important to exfoliate our lips to keep them soft and supple all year round- and anyone who might kiss you soon will surely be appreciative. Friday Favorites (9/5)

Happy Friday! DIY: How to reuse your wine bottle corks

DIY: How to reuse your wine bottle corks

As many of you know, MT and I make a big dinner every Sunday night (usual steak or salmon), and we follow it up with wine, popcorn, and a movie. We have been doing this nearly every Sunday for the past 4 years, and it has become our little weekly tradition. Needless to say, we have gone through a lot of wine in the past 4 years. Several months ago, I started to keep the corks from all of our wine bottles (not just the ones consumed on Sundays), and I’d add them to a clear glass vase.  A few weeks after I started to do that, I...

DIY: How to reuse old candle jars

DIY: How to reuse old candle jars

I have a major obsession with candles. If you walk into my house at any given time, you’ll probably find one burning somewhere. I try to burn soy candles as much as possible because they aren’t as toxic, but my major weakness is buying seasonal candles from Bath & Body Works. Because of my candle lighting addiction, I tend to go through them like water.  In the not so distant past, I’d simply toss out the jars when the candles were done for good.   And then I realized that I could couple my love for candles with my...
