DIY: How to reuse old candle jars

DIY: How to reuse old candle jars

I have a major obsession with candles. If you walk into my house at any given time, you’ll probably find one burning somewhere. I try to burn soy candles as much as possible because they aren’t as toxic, but my major weakness is buying seasonal candles from Bath & Body Works. Because of my candle lighting addiction, I tend to go through them like water.  In the not so distant past, I’d simply toss out the jars when the candles were done for good.   And then I realized that I could couple my love for candles with my...

Things I didn’t share Friday (5/3)

Things I didn’t share Friday (5/3)

  1. My latest food kick is tilapia (still love my salmon though!).  I’ve been breading it with gluten-free breadcrumbs, which I make by putting some Udi’s bread in the food processor.   A little pepper and a squeeze of lemon along with some veggies, and it is the perfect quick and easy dinner. 2. Lucy has a nasty habit of constantly staring at me.  Not only is it extremely annoying, but it is tremendously creepy.  She rarely (if ever) does it to MT or the baby and specifically targets me…which makes the whole...

Weekend recap (in mostly pictures)

Weekend recap (in mostly pictures)

Happy Monday! I’m going to let the pictures do most of the talking for the weekend recap today, but as you all know, I’m incapable of completely going wordless. Anyway, here’s what went on this past weekend…   Took a family drive on Saturday through some old country towns   Ended up in York. SC on our way home and had lunch at  Jasmine Cafe & Gifts   Loved the restaurant’s unique little touches (such as these cute table markers)   Ordered a grilled chicken salad with a really flavorful...

Lunch at home with the girls

Lunch at home with the girls

As I mentioned this morning, I had my sister Melissa and my mother over for lunch this afternoon. Melissa is a third grade teacher, so she’s been off all summer.  Next week. she goes back to work, so I knew that this would be one of our last opportunities to get together for awhile. They arrived together and brought me a giant Dunkin Donuts decaf iced coffee- a craving of mine this week.     I gave each of them some muffin mix wrapped up like the corresponding flavor. Mom’s was blueberry, and Melissa got cinnamon...

Update: Lucy the Goldendoodle

Update: Lucy the Goldendoodle

As many of you already know, Michael and I had to put our beloved dog Emma to sleep back in June (something I still think about daily). Not long after, we got a new puppy named Lucy.     The reason that we got Lucy so quickly was to allow enough time to train her before the baby arrives.  I’ll admit that I had a few doubts regarding whether or not we’d be successful, and having a puppy proved to be a lot more work than I remembered. However, I’m so happy to tell you that Lucy’s training has been going...

Part one: Babymoon in Aruba

Part one: Babymoon in Aruba

We’re baaaaack! Our plane got back into Charlotte at about 9 pm last night, and in just a little bit, I am going to pick up our little Lucy.  We had such a blast in Aruba, but we sure did miss our little girl!     Anyway, like I said, Aruba was so much fun! The weather was perfect (although it was very very windy which made for some interesting hair styles and wind blown looks in our photos). One of the highlights of our trip was on Saturday night when we had dinner on the beach at a restaurant called...
