6 websites for healthy recipes

6 websites for healthy recipes

Flipping through cookbooks is one of my favorite things to do.  I just love looking at all of the beautiful pictures and putting sticky notes on the pages with recipes that I want to try.  I have a really nice collection of cookbooks in my kitchen, and I cherish all of them. But sometimes it is just way easier to type “healthy pasta recipes” into Google and call it a day.  The experience of picking out a recipe might not be as much fun, but over the years, I have discovered many websites that come pretty close. Here are my top 5...

Trader Joe’s haul (May 2014)

Trader Joe’s haul (May 2014)

On Sunday morning, my husband gave me an amazing gift- the joy of grocery shopping without children! Don’t me wrong- I enjoy the company of my little ones more than anything, but let’s face it, they do not make it easy or enjoyable to shop. I saw it as the perfect opportunity to  head off to Trader Joe’s, and I stocked up on some weekly staples and long-time favorites. Honey whole wheat bread (for MT’s lunches) Sprouted rye & wheat bread (my all-time favorite!) Bananas Fire roasted red and yellow peppers Baby bella...

Things I didn’t share Friday (5/2)

Things I didn’t share Friday (5/2)

1.  When The Sopranos first aired 15 years ago, I didn’t watch and neither did my husband, but we recently got HBO Go and now we have access to all six seasons.  We’re only about eight episodes into season one so far, but we’re both completely addicted!  We even skipped our usual movie on Sunday night to watch a few episodes.   If you’ve never seen it but you’re a fan of movies like The Godfather (one of my all-time favorites), you absolutely have to watch it! 2.  It probably sounds cheesy, but I am working...

8 veggies to add to your smoothies & a giveaway!

8 veggies to add to your smoothies & a giveaway!

For the most part, I am pretty good about making sure that I eat enough vegetables.  I truly love salads and snacking on things like cucumbers and sliced bell peppers, so it isn’t all that hard for me. There are those rare days, however, when I fall a few servings short of the recommended daily amount (mostly when I am on vacation or eating meals outside of the home). Part of the reason why I love smoothies so much is that they make it really easy to work in those veggies.  You may even be surprised at how many vegetables can be hidden...

Trader Joe’s Haul

Trader Joe’s Haul

This past Saturday morning, MT offered to stay home with Michael while I ran to Trader Joe’s.  This was an incredible blessing considering how Michael climbed into the back of the cart during our last trip and nearly scared the “you-know-what” out of me in the process. I was a woman on a mission and was in and out of the store in 15 minutes.  It would have been even faster, but I was chit-chatting with the friendly checkout person.  His best friend and college roommate apparently plays for the Carolina Panthers.  I...

Grocery Haul (new finds!)

Grocery Haul (new finds!)

I did a bit of damage at the grocery store on Saturday morning after realizing that our fridge was almost completely barren. The items that you’ll see below are from Harris Teeter (our local chain) and Target, but you can expect to see a Trader Joe’s haul next week (which I might even film). I haven’t been there in ages, so I’m pretty excited. This haul was pretty fun too because I picked up a couple of new (to me) things. Here’s what I bought…     Organic whole milk (I always make sure that...
