Healthy & light go-to dinners (for many different situations)
When it comes to preparing a good dinner, there are a lot of obstacles that can stand in the way, such as exhaustion, a crying baby, poopy diapers, a limited amount of time, and a total lack of ideas. We’re so focused on just getting something (or anything) on the table that we often forget to make healthy choices. Last night, I rounded up many of my favorite healthy and/or lighter go-to recipes and ideas in the hopes of making things just a little bit easier for you when dinnertime rolls around. Enjoy! If you don’t like...

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a grocery shopping haul, but I’m going to change that today. As you’ll see, I’ve been eating lots and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I’ve been enjoying them in salads, sliced up with some hummus or salsa, roasted, and in green smoothies. Right now, you’re probably thinking, “How is this any different than normal? Doesn’t she always eat fruits and vegetables?” While it’s true that I usually have healthy foods in my shopping cart, the...

Happy Thursday! It has been awhile since I’ve done my weekly grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s (7 weeks to be exact). I’ve been placing our orders online with Harris Teeter instead because they gather everything together and bring the bags out to my car. I don’t even have to enter the store which is an incredible gift when you have a newborn. Even though my doctor told me to start chilling and relaxing at home (more on that in a big pregnancy update to come next week), I got myself up and relatively pulled together early this morning. Why? I planned to take a trip to the Whole Foods that recently opened up here in Charlotte. The store has been a zoo ever since it opened, and I knew that, unless I was in the mood to wrestle with some woman over a Larabar, I’d have to beat the crowds. I’ve been to Whole Foods a number of times, but this was my first time at the one in...

Hi, everyone! We’ve had some gloomy rainy weather here in Charlotte these past few days. This sort of weather always puts me in the mood to make chili and curl up on the couch with some peppermint tea and a good book- or even my favorite Pottery Barn catalog of the year. I could browse through this thing for hours. Maybe even days. Anyway, I actually do plan to make chili at some point and picked up some of the necessary ingredients at Trader Joe’s this morning. But before I share my weekly haul, I need to share...

Last night, I was ultra girly and turned my bathroom into a spa. I took a bath, attempted to give myself a pedicure (which wasn’t easy considering the fact that I can no longer reach my toes), put on some soothing music, and layered on a facial mask- a bright, white, scary-looking, clay mask. While the mask was doing its thing, Lucy and I went out to the backyard, so she could relieve herself. Plus, she just looked bored. Our yard is pretty private and it was getting dark, so I figured that no one would see me in my mask. Well,...
