Zumba DVD review

I am a klutz.

I once fell off a chair with wheels in the middle of a one-on-one meeting with my boss.  The chair shot out from under me, hit the wall, and I was left lying on the floor…in a skirt.

One time, I was walking around uptown after work feeling all cute and crossed the street in my heels…and wiped out in front of about twenty onlookers.

A co-worker and I were walking up the stairs together and I fell flat on my face.  Yes, I fell walking up the stairs. It can be done.

Another time, I was getting out of my car and pulled the door into my head.  I had a lovely gash on my forehead for a week.

Despite the undeniable fact that I am uncoordinated and a hazard to myself, I attempted Zumba.  Before you get the idea that I was all brave and took my clumsy self to an actual class, I must confess that I borrowed my mom’s DVDs and did the workout at home.

Guess what?

I didn’t fall once!  In fact, I absolutely loved it!  I am sure that I looked like a complete and utter spazzola getting on down in my living room, but I don’t care.  I’m officially addicted.

The thing that I love the most is that it is just a pure and utter blast.  On top of that, it is an amazing workout and there’s no right or wrong to the moves.  You just give it your own flavor and have fun with it.

If you’ve never tried Zumba before, I’d definitely recommend trying the DVDs and starting with the 20-minute Express Workout.  My next move is to try an actual class, and I am not going to worry about potentially embarrassing myself.  As Diana mentioned, the other people in the class will be busy focusing on the instructors and won’t be paying attention to what you’re doing anyway.

And remember- if a clumsy girl like me is willing to try it, so can you! 🙂

Since Michael and I missed out on our Sunday night tradition two weekends in a row, we made up for it last night and polished off a bottle of red wine together and two buckets of popcorn.

This morning, I’m hurting.  On mornings like this (which are rare for me, actually), all I want is toast.

This sprouted toasted with coconut butter, banana, and chia seeds is helping already. I’m one green smoothie away from being as good as new!

What foods do you eat when you’ve had a bit too much fun the night before?

Have you tried Zumba before? What did you think of it?

Have a wonderful day!

  2. Haha I’m not exactly a klutz, but I CANNOT dance. It’s really bad haha! I think Zumba sounds cool, but there’s no way I’d be able to keep up! 🙂

  3. Oh I can be a klutz too! Love the stories! lol!

I am so glad you liked Zumba, it is fun! U dont have to know how to dance or be coordinated , its a blast!!!

When I have a too much wine night, fresh juice calls my name the next day ; )

  4. I’m been wanting to try Zumba but like you I’m seriously uncoordinated! I should try a video first to see if I like it but everyone always says how fun it is so I’m sure I will. I’ll just have to stand in the back corner of the class where no one might accidentally look at me while trying to look at the instructor.

  5. MMMmmmm… chia seeds are the best – I swear they are good on just about everything!

  6. I am a klutz of the dangerous sorts. I fall out and off of things. I fell off a horse once and broke my arm. I have fallen out of a tree and out of a loft directly on my back. Ouch! Plus, I am all too familiar with falling up stairs. 😉
