Dinner at mom and dad’s house & sweet potato fries

I’m really lucky because my parents only live about 20 minutes (or approximately 5-6 Lionel Richie songs) away from my house.

Several years ago, we lived hours and hours apart (we’re talking all of Lionel Richie’s complete albums), so being able to pop on over there for dinner during the week is a wonderful blessing.

And since I was flying solo again for dinner last night, that’s just what I did- only I didn’t just pop on over unannounced.  I was actually an invited guest. 😉

Earlier in the day, my mother called to ask if I wanted a burger, chicken, or fish for dinner.

I went for the burger because well…sometimes a girl just needs a burger.

Some of you might remember when my parents got a new puppy named Coco last year.

Well, check out how much my furry sister has grown since then!

She’s such a cutie, and I love how she gives me hugs by wrapping her paws around my legs.  It is so sweet!

My burger was delicious and very well-balanced by a salad made up of butter lettuce, chickpeas, strawberries, blueberries, sliced black olives, red onions, cherry tomatoes, avocado, and walnuts.

We also had sweet potato fries…

How come no one ever told me that Trader Joe’s makes the best sweet potato fries on the planet?

They were so good that I had to help myself to seconds…and I might just have to drive on over to Trader Joe’s today to buy some.

If you haven’t tried them already, I highly suggest that you do!

A puppy, my parents, a burger, and sweet potato fries definitely makes for a good night in my book.

Do you get to see your family often?  Have you ever had sweet potato fries from Trader Joe’s?  I’m seriously driving my booty over there today.  I foresee a new pregnancy craving!

Have a great day, everyone!

  2. Stopping by from SITS! I love all things “beach” and the Grass Skirt caught my eye. You’ve got such a cute blog and some good looking food, too!

    • Thanks so much for stopping by! I guess that my smoothie recipes are beachy, so hopefully, I didn’t disappoint too much in that department. 🙂

  3. I see my family quite often, my boyfriend and I are contemplating a big move in the next year and I’m wondering how I’ll handle not seeing my family as much if we go through with it.

    • Aw. That is a really big decision. I can say that living apart makes you appreciate the times that you have with them even more though!
