Favorite Things (Part 11)


It has been ages and ages since I’ve done a favorites post, so I’ve accumulated lots of things to share with you today.

I’ll also be putting up a special Pregnancy Favorites post very soon- and no, it won’t consist of doughnuts and Subway sandwiches (although it probably should…).


Earth Balance organic coconut spread

When I first picked this up at Earth Fare, I didn’t really know how I’d feel about it, but since I love Earth Balance butter, I figured that I’d give it a try.  I’m so glad that I did!  This spread is a great substitute for butter when I am baking and cooking.  It is also lactose-free, soy-free, vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free.  Definitely look for it the next time you go to the store!

Leslie Sansone: Walk at Home- 5 Mile Fat-Burning Walk

Lately, I’ve talked a lot about my love for walking.  It has been such a great form of exercise for me during my pregnancy, and I’m convinced that it has helped me keep my energy up.  While I plan to do a detailed post of my pregnancy exercise routine soon, I need to mention that this DVD has been a lifesaver for me on rainy days when I cannot get outside (and there have been a lot of them!).  Don’t judge the DVD by the cheesy cover and title.  I swear, it is fun and a great way to burn off a little energy.


iPhone case from Etsy

As you may know already, I’m a huge fan of Etsy.  It was such a great resource for me when I was searching for wall art for the baby’s bathroom and nursery.  It is also a goldmine when it comes to unique pieces of jewelry and other accessories.   My most recent find was this iPhone case by Pink Laundry Shop.  I love cheery yellow color.  It makes me happy whenever I see it.



I might be late to the party, but I’ve been loving Instagram lately.  It is so convenient for snapping my own photos without having to drag out my SLR every time.  Plus, I love checking out the photos of everyone who I follow, especially when they post ones related to shopping.  It makes me excited to be able to wear normal clothes again!

Butternut squash soup

I’m completely aware of the fact that it is still summer and still pretty hot in most areas of the country.  However, I’ve been craving butternut squash soup ever since my friend Lindsay mentioned it to me a few weeks ago.  I’ve been enjoying an organic, low-sodium kind from Trader Joe’s (delicious!), but I definitely plan to make a huge batch of my own soon.  I’ll freeze the leftovers as part of my current urge to stock the house with enough food to last the next 100 years.

I’ve showed these a few times in my weekly Trader Joe’s hauls, but they deserve to be mentioned yet again.  Aside from the flavor, I love the simple ingredient list and the convenience factor.  Again, pick these up if you can find them.


Upper Lower Lash Mascara Applicator Guide Eyelash Comb

(Talk about a mouthful!)

I’ll admit that I am pretty girly, and I’m definitely into beauty gadgets.  One of my very favorites is this little contraption.  Do you ever get mascara on your eyelids after you apply?  This prevents that from happening.  You might look a little crazy when you’re using it, but it is totally worth it.  And if you’re anything like me, your husband already thinks your crazy anyway. 😉

  1. Nice mascara contraption! I usually just use a qtip to clean up any excess. Just swipe and clean! No water or makeup remover necessary. 🙂

    • I use Q-tips too. They are so handy! Sometimes they don’t work on my eyelids though. For whatever reason, the mascara really likes to stick there. LOL.

  3. Hey Erin! I love your favorite things posts 🙂 I’m so interested in this walking DVD! I *love* to walk, but it’s been so hot here, so this sounds like a nice option. 🙂 Does she just coach you as you walk in place? And it’s a pretty good walking workout?

      Leslie makes all sorts of DVDs for different levels. I even have one that is a walk and a jog. There’s basically lots of walking in place, but sometimes she’ll have you walk around the room and even jog or run in place. The DVD that I mentioned has some jogging in it, and she also has you use hand weights which is a nice added challenge. You can basically adjust the workout to suit your desired intensity though. If you feel like jogging during the walking parts, you can! I’ll admit that she is a bit cheesy sometimes, but she’s also kind of endearing. 🙂 Hope that helps!

      • Thanks so much for the info! I might have to check it out — it just sounds like a nice alternative when I’ve had too much sun (or rain like you mention!) but I still want to get a little at-home movin’. Hope you had a great weekend!
