February 2016 Favorites

It’s a few days late, but I have some really fantastic favorites to share with you from the month of February. Most of them have never been mentioned here before, so let’s get to it!
When I first tried matcha green tea, I thought it was…disgusting. But because of all its wonderful health benefits, I really wanted to develop a taste for it. It took this matcha green tea smoothie recipe to bring me to that point, and now I’ve been getting my matcha fix almost daily! If you’ve never been into the taste of matcha green tea, I recommend trying it out in a smoothie because the flavor won’t be quite as strong. It’s amazing what you can hide in a smoothie!
Fermented foods, such as kombucha, are so beneficial to our digestive health, so it’s a good thing that I also enjoy the taste. I’m currently hooked on this strawberry flavor and have developed quite the kombucha habit. It’s actually the perfect replacement for soda because it provides the same carbonation but none of the nasty stuff.
I finally got around to buying some things from Honest Beauty (more about that in a future post), and I have been wearing this blush ever since my bundle arrived in the mail last month. I really wanted a true pink color for spring, and that’s exactly what you’ll get with this blush. It’s bright without being 80s bright and blends into the skin like a dream. Even though I really love the Lily Lolo mascara, I really wanted to try something different and decided to give the Per-fekt mascara a try. I’m so glad that I did because I am really enjoying it. It’s actually quite different from the Lily Lolo, and I’m going to do a comparison post on that next week. Spoiler alert: Go for the Per-fekt if you’re more concerned about lengthening versus volume.
Clove, Cinnamon, & Sweet Orange Essential Oil Blend
I’m slowly eliminating plug-ins and candles from our home (especially since Megan has some recurring respiratory issues), so I’ve been using my oil diffusers quite frequently. Right now, I’m crazy obsessed with blending clove, cinnamon, and sweet orange essential oils. The scent is sweet, warm, and just makes my house feel all cozy.
Social Media Favorites
I’m really into Snapchat (Follow me @thegrassskirt) and Periscope these days, and some of my favorite two people to follow are Joy McCarthy of Joyous Health (@joyoushealth on both Snapchat and Periscope) and Britanie of Beauty by Britanie (@britaniefaith on Snapchat and @BeautybyBritanie on Periscope).
Joy is absolutely adorable and her positive attitude is just infectious. I’ve been a fan of hers for years, and it has been so much fun “getting to know her” on a more personal level (as well as her husband Walker and gorgeous baby girl Vienna) through these social media outlets. If you aren’t familiar with Joy, she is a holistic nutritionist and really knows her stuff when it comes to subjects like digestion, healthy recipes, and clean living.
Britanie is the type of woman who I’d love to know in real life. She is funny, inspiring, and so knowledgeable about green beauty. Her lips are also incredibly full (naturally!) and gorgeous, and she can basically make any lipstick color look amazing. Britanie has an alter ego named “Fee” who comes out on Snapchat, and I nearly break a rib from laughter whenever I watch her.
And that’s it for the month of February! I hope that your March is off to a great start, and I’d love to know some of your current favorites.
