Friday Favorites (1/30)

This week, I pretty much unplugged from social media, reading blogs, and blogging myself.  I even tried not to pick up my phone as much as usual- which clearly needed to happen since my 2 year old has started walking around imitating me with his pretend phone.

Unplugging was an honorary favorite, and if you have not unplugged lately, you should give it a go.  It is amazing how much you can get accomplished when you aren’t looking at photos of your friends’ children or their cats on Facebook all day long.  In fact, I have been thinking about dropping my personal Facebook page altogether.

Now that you know one of my favorites (and I guess that Facebook can be considered a non-favorite for the week), here’s the rest of my list!

The Magic Pads

The Magic Pads

I have been using these facial pads for a few months now, and they will probably be a permanent fixture in my skin care routine (especially during the winter).  They are made with glycolic acid, organic willow bark, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E in an organic aloe vera juice base and can be used to treat acne (even on the body).  I use them because they are hydrating, exfoliating, and soothing.  The pads are also supposed to shrink pores, a benefit that I have actually noticed in my own skin, tighten, and improve tone.

Bare Minerals Illuminating Minerl Veil

bareMinerals Illuminating Mineral Veil

Because they can draw attention to dry flaky skin, I typically shy away from finishing powders, but I really like this one by bareMinerals.  It gives my face a nice subtle glow and blurs imperfections without getting cakey looking.  By the way, this was another rediscovery as part of my makeup purge process, which I plan to document very soon!

foam roller

LuxFit Premium High Density Foam Roller

I have no idea why it took me so long to get on the foam roller bandwagon, but I finally got into it about a month ago.  If you are into fitness but haven’t tried foam rolling, I highly recommend that you do!  It is such an incredible way to relieve sore or aching muscles, and it is surprisingly relaxing.  I like to follow some routines on YouTube when I use mine.

Veggie-Go’s Organic Fruit & Veggie Snacks in Cinnamon Spiced Beet

I’ve mentioned Veggie-Go’s before today, but this week, I have been loving this new (to me) flavor.  I have been on a major beet kick for the past two months, so it is no wonder that I enjoy these so much. If you are a beet lover too, try them!

Where Are They Now Oprah

Oprah: Where Are They Now?

Where Are They Now? follows up with past guests from The Oprah Winfrey Show including celebrities, regular people who have made headlines at some point in time, and even interesting audience members. Michael, who never watched Oprah’s talk show, even watches it with me!  Each segment begins with a clip from the original show (some even date back to the 80s) followed by a recent interview.  If you have ever sat around wondering, “What ever happened to so and so?” then this is the show for you.

Have you dropped any of your social media accounts lately?

Happy Friday!

  1. Yea foamrolling! It is so great!

  2. I think I’m done with Facebook too. I’ll get sucked into it sometimes and think, why the hell am I even look at this stuff? it’s usually 1) dumb, 2) something I never needed to know about your child, or 3) a complete waste of my time (ok it’s always #3 haha). I think I’d like to try a week of less social media too. Just to get in a better routine! Those face pads sound awesome. I will have to keep an eye out for them! (You know, to wash off the mascara you made me get haha)

    • Seriously, taking the week off was awesome! I plan to do it again really soon. Do you like the mascara? I think of you every time I put mine on now! Haha.
