Friday Favorites (7/11)

Friday Favorite 7-11

1.  Radishes

Until last week, I never ate radishes.  I just always knew them as the vegetable that Fraggles ate on Fraggle Rock, and that didn’t really make the seem appealing.   But for some reason, I decided to buy a pint of them when I was at the farmer’s market last week, and I’m now completely hooked.  I even made a special visit to the farmer’s market again this week for more of them. There are so many great health benefits to eating radishes.  They can help to control blood pressure, protect us from certain types of cancer, relieve sore throats, keep our hearts healthy, and they also have anti-inflammatory properties.  The Fraggles were on to something I guess.

2.  Skindinavia Makeup Primer Spray

I’m a big fan of the Skindinavia makeup setting spray, so I was really eager to try the primer spray.  I typically don’t use a primer before putting on my foundation because a lot of them break me out.  It has been so hot and humid in Charlotte this summer though that a primer is becoming an essential part of keeping my makeup in tact all day long.  The primer spray actually feels really light, and it has definitely done a great job of keeping my makeup in place (along with the setting spray).  It’s also 20% off right now on the Skindinavia website. 🙂

3.  Paleo Banana Bread

It has been a rainy week here, and when it rains, I feel like baking.  Does anyone else ever get that same urge?  The urge hit me pretty hard on Wednesday, but I didn’t really feel like running out to the store for a bunch of ingredients to make something.  Luckily, I had just enough overripe bananas to make Paleo Banana Bread. I actually made mine into mini muffins, and they made for the perfect little snack.  And needless to say, they made my house smell awesome.

4.  Sesame Street Count and Crunch Cookie Monster Plush

Michael is completely and utterly obsessed with Cookie Monster.  In fact, we play “C is for Cookie” in my car on repeat pretty much every day.  When we were in Marshalls last weekend, I just couldn’t leave this Cookie Monster toy there (especially since Michael’s face lit up when he saw it).  I love watching him take the toy cookies from the backpack and then feed them to Cookie Monster.  The only problem is that it only comes with three cookies, and we were already down to just two about five minutes after we brought the toy home!

5.  Dream Cream Body Lotion

I recently blogged all about how much I love Lush and included this cream in my list of favorite products from the store.  I’ve been using it religiously this week, and it makes my skin so silky and hydrated.  It even gives my legs and arms a little glow which is so appropriate for the summer.

What are some of your favorites from the week?

Have a great weekend!

  1. When I was younger I could eat radishes and cucumbers and now it is just heartburn city for me 🙁

Love that Cookie Monster 🙂 I am sure all of the cookies will be lost soon enough – hard when toys come with pieces like that and not losing them.

Love the beauty products your share 🙂

    Happy Weekend!!!

    • I never even thought about radishes causing heartburn. Good thing I didn’t realize that I loved them while I was pregnant. Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

    • I am learning what I can eat raw and what I have to cook. Some things like radishes just have to be eaten raw. At least I can eat pickles.

  2. I am the same about rainy weather and baking! And banana bread is my FAVORITE. I have to keep it in the freezer because if it is readily available I will not rest until it has been devoured, haha!

  3. I don’t know if it’s weather related or not, but I do occasionally just NEED to bake. It’s always odd since I don’t picture myself as much of a baker.

Oh, and yes, Fraggles were totally onto something good. I like radishes but no one else in my family does.

  4. Ok…radishes. What do you do with them?! To me they are just little annoyances that I sometimes have to pick out of restaurant salads! I’m on a kale & sweet potato chip craze right now (no, I’m not preg!)—finding different seasonings and experimenting.

    • I put the radishes in my salads, but I also add them to wraps and dip them in hummus or salsa. I am always loving kale and sweet potato chips! You can do so much with them as far as seasonings. I am sure that you’ve had some great combos. 🙂
