Friday Favorites & Maybes (10/17)

Happy Friday!

As you know, this is usually that day of the week where I turn into a QVC hostess and rave on and on about all of the products that I am into at the moment.  I’m still wearing my Lori Greiner hat today, but today I also have two things that have me on the fence a bit.

Let’s get the maybes out of the way before ending on a high note with my definite favorites…

Friday Favorites and Maybes

Maybe #1: Coconut Secret Raw Coconut Vinegar

I picked this up at Whole Foods several weeks ago after reading that it “is an abundant source of 17 amino acids, minerals, vitamin C, broad spectrum B vitamins, and has a nearly neutral pH.”  It is also supposedly more nutritious than apple cider vinegar.  I used it as a salad dressing along with a little oil, and it just didn’t have much flavor to me.   At times, I did pick up a little bit of the taste, but I wasn’t crazy about it.  I think that I am going to try it as a marinade for my salmon before adding my Wildtree coconut citrus blend.  Hopefully, I’ll have a definitive impression of it after that!

Maybe #2: L’Oreal Butterfly Mascara

I got this mascara for just a few cents thanks to a great sale and some coupons.  Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have tried it.  Anyway, the wand was really weird, and I never really got any great results with it when I used the mascara on my upper lashes.  In fact, I felt as though it made my lashes look shorter!  The reason why I am not totally going to bash the product is that I love it for my lower lashes.  It applies there easily and doesn’t flake (which is always an issue for me).   Even though I am able to make it work, I probably won’t buy it again.

Favorite #1: Immaculate Baking Company Gluten Free Cookie Mix in Double Chocolate

I’m usually not into boxed mixes when it comes to baked goods, but this brand isn’t made with bleached flour, preservatives, or artificial flavors which makes me a fan.  I use applesauce in place of oil when I make these, and the cookies turn out moist and delicious- almost like brownies.  MT devours them and always says that they don’t taste gluten free at all.

Favorite #2: The Fresh Market Coconut Oil

My friend Lindsay turned me on to the coconut oil from The Fresh Market, and I am hooked on it!  It has a stronger coconut flavor than some of the other brands that I have tried, is priced competitively, and it is unrefined and non-GMO.  Look for it, if you have one of those stores near you!

Favorite #3: Crate & Barrel Halloween Mugs

Crate & Barrel is one of my favorite stores especially when it comes to holiday decor.  Every year, I look forward to using the Crate & Barrel Halloween mug that MT bought for me.  They don’t carry the same one any more, but the others in stock right now are just as cute and make drinking tea and coffee seem a little special.

What are some of your favorites and/or maybes this week?

Have a great weekend!

  1. I love that mug!

This is totally not related to this post, but I wanted to tell you that I just started oil pulling this week. I read so much about the benefits and was always interested by the process, but your blog was what really gave me the push and inspiration to try it. I found all of your posts on it to be very helpful and filled with so much info. 🙂
