Easy homemade walnut butter

I’m sure that a lot of people would agree that the book is always better than the movie, the original is always better than the sequel, and homemade is always better than store bought.

The latter is especially true of cookies, and the other day, I wondered if it also applies to nut butter.

It does.

For my first attempt at making homemade nut butter, I used walnuts (next time, I’ll use almonds, but I was nearly out of them).

The walnuts had to be soaked overnight, and when I woke up, they were all ready to become wonderful walnut butter.

Sweet & Salty Walnut Butter

Ingredients

1 cup of unsalted walnuts (soaked overnight and drained)
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon of sea salt
1 teaspoon raw honey

Place nuts into a food processor and blend on high until powdery.  Add oil, honey, salt, and cinnamon.  Continue to blend until smooth, or until desired consistency is reached.

Yes, I am a dork with a label maker, and I’ve labeled nearly everything in the house…even the dog.

Just kidding about labeling the dog.  Though I did think about sticking a warning label on her booty.

Anyway, this came out so good that most of it ended up in my mouth as I was transferring it to the jar.  This isn’t going to last long.  In fact, now that I know how easy it is to make nut butter, I just opened up a whole new world of possibilities for myself.

I cannot wait to add a tablespoon to my afternoon smoothie!

Do you think that homemade is usually better than store bought?  Do you think the original is always better than the sequel?  Is the book usually better than the movie?  I’ll answer yes to all of those questions.  Although the sequel to Father of the Bride was pretty great.  Franck cracks me up every time!

Have a wonderful day!
