Links I’m loving lately| Trader Joe’s, beauty, DIY & more

The number of bookmarks saved on my laptop has gotten pretty out of control lately, so I thought it was time for a little clean-up.  While going through the list, I realized that a lot of what I bookmarked is definitely worth sharing with you.

10 healthiest foods you can buy at Trader Joe's

10 Healthiest Frozen Foods You Can Buy at Trader Joe’s

As much as I love Trader Joe’s, it is a big misconception that everything you’ll find there is healthy.  They don’t stock the store with foods that contain high fructose corn syrup and other nasty ingredients, but a lot of their products, especially the frozen variety, are loaded with sodium.  This link can help you navigate through the frozen foods section more quickly.

Turkey Chili Recipe

Karena’s Turkey Chili Recipe

I made this chili a few weeks ago, and it was easy, delicious, healthy, and husband approved. The recipe yielded a ton of leftovers, which I stored in the freezer for those “I don’t feel like cooking a darn thing” kind of nights.

health benefits of beets and how to use them

In Season Pick: Beets

I’m definitely a beet lover.  This blog by Sara Snow (someone who has inspired me for years to adopt a more natural lifestyle) breaks down why it is important to eat them and how to prepare them.  Totally random, but does anyone remember the cartoon named Doug and the band that he liked called The Beets?  Now I have their song “Killer Tofu” stuck in my head.

Why you shouldn't check Facebook in the morning

Why You Shouldn’t Check Facebook in the Morning

As this article points out, social media can be a real productivity killer.  Aside from that, I don’t like to check Facebook first thing in the morning because it can actually be kind of a downer.  We all have at least one friend who likes to complain nonstop with statuses about every little ache and pain they have and how much they hate Mondays.  Who needs that negativity first thing in the morning?

  1. I am a beet lover too! I eat them every day I think! Love them raw and thrown on to what ever I’m having for dinner! Seriously, nature’s candy!

    • Aren’t they the best? My mom told me that she always ate them growing up because she thought they would make her cheeks naturally rosy. LOL.

  2. Yay beets! Ah, I remember Doug. And Rugrats. And I feel old now. 😉
