Lip scrubs to address any beauty concern

Over the course of the summer, the sun can really take a beating on our lips leaving them burned and dehydrated.  Then the cooler months roll around and all of that wind and crisp air can make them dry and chapped.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about some of my favorite exfoliating products for the face.  Well, it is every bit as important to exfoliate our lips to keep them soft and supple all year round- and anyone who might kiss you soon will surely be appreciative.

Because it can sometimes be overwhelming to choose which products to use, I narrowed down my list of favorites according to specific concerns.

Happy scrubbing- and kissing!

Lip scrubs to address any beauty concern

Beauty concern #1: Rough and dehydrated lips

Try: Popcorn Lip Scrub

This became a favorite of mine after just one use.  First of all, there’s the scent.  I guess that it is supposed to smell like popcorn, but in my opinion, it smells like cake batter- and I like it!  The directions say to lick it off your lips after rubbing it in.  I wasn’t sure if I those instructions were intended to be followed literally, but I gave it a try anyway.  After trying it, I immediately wanted to reapply just so that it could lick it off again.  Scent and flavor aside, this scrub is extremely effective.  My lips are always super smooth, soft, and hydrated after I use it.

Beauty Concern #2: Thin lips

Try: Sugar & Butter Lip Exfoliator/Plumper

I really like this dual ended stick.   The organic brown sugar on one side gently removes dull, dry skin while the tinted lip plump with shea butter on the other end moistens and plumps the lips.

(This one also wins for neatness and convenience since it doesn’t come in a pot, and it does not have to be applied with your fingers.)

Beauty Concern #3: Sensitivity/Aging

Try: Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub

If the word “scrub” makes you a bit squeamish and you prefer to use something a bit lighter, this one by Bite Beauty is a wonderful option.  It exfoliates without being too harsh, and I find that it is also quite moisturizing.  It also has anti-aging properties (yep, our lips can show signs of aging) which is an awesome bonus.

Beauty Concern #4:  Maxed out beauty budget

You can still can still scrub your way to smooth and hydrated lips even if you are on a budget.  Just make your own by mixing about a tablespoon of coconut oil with 1-1.5 tablespoons of brown sugar, apply a coat to your lips using your fingers, rub around for a few seconds, and wipe off with a clean wash cloth or towel.

What are your favorite products for exfoliating your lips?  Has anyone tried the Bubblegum lip scrub by Lush?  I’ve been curious about that one too.

Have a great day!

  1. Ooooo, all of these look amazing! I think I need that popcorn one. 🙂 I’ve only tried Mary Kay’s exfoliating lip stuff, but I liked it!

  2. I have dehydrated lips so I will most defiantly have to try the lush popcorn scrub. 😀
