Lunch date at Charanda & healthy eats from the week (10/12)


Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.

My due date is still over a week away, but because I know that I’m dilated and effaced, I’ve already grown so impatient and tired of waiting for that day to arrive.

On Wednesday, my contractions started to get stronger, so of course, I was convinced that I was on the verge of going into labor.



Michael had a rare spare moment in his work day to have lunch with me, so we met up at Charanda, a Mexican restaurant with nice and spicy salsa.  I’m actually not normally a fan of very spicy foods, but I thought the salsa might induce labor.

Gotta love old wives’ tales…

Obviously, my attempt to evict the little bugger didn’t work, but it was a fun little date just the same.


Chips, salsa, and fajitas aside, I had some very healthy meals this week…

Healthy eats from the week


Salad with mixed butter lettuce, tofu, avocado, cucumber, onion, and sweet potato

Smoothie with ice cubes, a huge handful of spinach, pineapple, mango, 1/2 small banana, and 1 teaspoon of ground flax

Red quinoa mixed with butternut squash, onion, spinach, tofu, sea salt, and coconut oil

Pumpkin oatmeal

Greek yogurt with raspberries, kiwi, mango, and a sprinkling of flax and cinnamon

Salmon with sesame oil, raw honey, and Panko bread crumbs on top of greens and roasted veggies

Some of the nice people from Michael’s office want to take us out for lunch today, so I’ll be eating at The Cheesecake Factory this afternoon.  Naturally, I’ve been contemplating my order ever since I woke up. 🙂

What is your favorite thing to order at The Cheesecake Factory?  I’m actually up for trying something new, so I’ll gladly welcome recommendations.

What’s the craziest old wives’ tale you’ve heard?  When it comes to inducing labor, some of them are pretty out there!

  1. I always get one of the Asian salads at Cheesecake Factory, I forget if it’s the chinese chicken or won ton…something like that. I think you can get a half portion too, which is still HUGE. Oh and my favorite cheesecake is the Dulce De Leche, so GOOD! I’ve been thinking about you this week! Keep me posted!!

    • You weren’t kidding about the portion sizes. I got the Luau salad (lunch sized), and it was massive! And I will absolutely keep you posted. 🙂

    Mmmm I always love the salmon egg rolls on the appetizer menu or on the skinny menu the shrimp lettuce wraps!

    • Today was the first time that I ever saw the skinny menu! Of course, I didn’t order off of it, but it was great to see some healthier options. I need to try those egg rolls next time!

  5. Their menu is so big it is kinda ridiculous! haha! Thanks for the package! Super sweet of you!

    I will be thinking about you this week! Stay standing and squatting (weird I know) as long as you can before you get to the hospital. We nurses put you into beds when you get there and don’t let you get up! (We wouldn’t want you to fall on our watch!) Standing and squatting and being able to change positions helps with the pain though!
