Makeup, skin care, & home care haul (Vitacost)

Hello!

I place one huge order a month through Vitacost, and this month, I ordered a lot of beauty and household items along with a couple of food items that managed to sneak into my photos.

If you’ve ever ordered from Vitacost before, you know how exciting it is to see that big brown box with the green packing tape on your doorstep. I never can tear into it fast enough, and my kids love playing with the box once it has been emptied, so everyone is happy!

If you have tried anything that I have not had the chance to use just yet, please let me know your thoughts.

(This post is not sponsored, and I purchased everything with my own money.  However, it does contain some affiliate links.)

Vitacost haul- October 2015

Avalon Organics Vitality Facial Serum Vitamin C

I used the Paula’s Choice vitamin C serum for awhile, and even though I really liked it, I wanted to find one that was more on the natural side. This one by Avalon Organics received pretty good reviews, so I am hoping that I like it too.

Burt’s Bees Lip Gloss Autumn Haze

I think that this lip gloss was recommended in a YouTube video that I watched recently, and it inspired me to buy it. While the color is really pretty, I cannot stand the applicator, and if I was on my game, I would have remembered that from previous experience.  I don’t like the wand because it barely gets out any product, so you have to apply a whole bunch of times to get any color payoff.  (I really really want to say, “Ain’t nobody got time for that” here.)

Mineral Fusion Volumizing Mascara Jet

I haven’t tried this yet, but I was looking to switch things up from my Pacifica mascara (which tends to be a bit too wet for my liking but does work very well).

Greens Plus Organic Superfood Amazon Chocolate

This was a September favorite, and I have it daily in my morning smoothie for healthy skin and hair.

Hurraw! Balm Lip Balm Vanilla Bean

I needed another lip balm like I needed a hole in my head, but what can I say?  It is an addiction.

Nature’s Alchemy 100% Pure Essential Oil Peppermint

My love for essential oils runs deep, and I got this oil to use in a blend.  You’ll definitely see some posts on oils here very soon!

Vitacost 100% Pure Rosemary Oil

After learning that rosemary oil can stimulate hair growth, I figured that I’d give this a try.  I’ve only been using it for a few days, so I can’t comment on my person experience yet.

Vitacost Evening Primrose Oil

You can read why I take these in my very outdated vitamin routine post.

Earth Science Active Age Defense Whipped Cream Cleanser

This is a repurchase.  I really enjoy the cleanser so much because it is so gentle, rich, and hydrating. Even though it is very inexpensive, it feels like a high end face wash.

Earth Friendly Fruit and Vegetable Wash

There isn’t much to say here except that I needed more vegetable wash, and this one sounded good.

If You Care Coffee Filters No. 2 Cone Brown

I packed up my Keurig in preparation for our eventual move and have been using my other coffee maker instead.  I figured that I might as well use some filters that are good for the environment and read that these are pretty decent. I am kind of skeptical though and sort of expect them to fall apart on me.

Ecover Automatic Dishwasher Tablets

These are plant-based and biodegradable, so I figured they would be worth a try.

EO Essential Oil Products Everyone Hand Soap Apricot plus Vanilla

I used the hand soaps from Bath & Body Works for years, and I’ll be honest- I love them dearly. Unfortunately, they aren’t natural, so I have been experimenting with healthier alternatives.

Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid Lemongrass and Clementine Zest

I’m not loyal to one brand or scent of dish liquid and like to switch things up every now and then.  Is it sad that I keep my life interesting by switching dish soaps?  Please, don’t answer that question.

Twist Naked Sponges

Until recently, I never really considered the safety of the sponges that I use in our home. Many brands contain dyes and glue, and it is is kind of gross to think about rubbing that stuff on our dishware and utensils!  These sponges are plant-based, non-toxic, and I like the way they clean so far.  I don’t know how long they will hold up, but you can be sure that I’ll report back.

Have a great day!

  1. I used those filters for years and they are really good! They won’t fall apart on you haha. I’ve been hearing about how great vitamin c serum is for your skin and I love Avalon Organics so I might have to try it out.

  2. My Vitacost order just came today! Always feels like Christmas…but it was all food 😉
