Mini weekend recap & my latest Whole Foods haul

I can sum up my entire weekend for you in just one word…

Rainy.

In fact, it has rained in Charlotte for the past 15 days, and unfortunately, it looks like the rain is here to stay for a bit longer.

I usually love a good rainy day, but even I am hoping to see some sunshine soon!

Luckily, the sun actually did come out for a little bit this morning, so Michael and I took a walk around the neighborhood.

It was very short though because the humidity was killer.  You should see my hair!

(Sorry I am not going to post a pic of my massive pouf. Just envision Richard Simmons, and you’ve got an accurate image.)

Because of the rain, my weekend wasn’t all that noteworthy.  However, if you follow me on Instagram, you know that I did get some new things at Ulta (more on that in a few days), and as the title of this post suggests, I also shopped at Whole Foods.

Here’s what I got!

Whole Foods haul

NuNaturals stevia

Mushrooms

Organic frozen peaches (for making baby food)

Daiya dairy-free mozzarella shreds

Sesame garlic tempeh

Udi’s gluten free pizza

Sundried tomato & basil hummus

Roasted eggplant hummus

KeVita probiotic drink

Zico chocolate coconut water

Aloe vera juice (which MT has been drinking like crazy!)

Strawberry flavored Zevia

Almond Breeze unsweetened vanilla almond coconut milk

Reduced fat Vegenaize

Organic romaine lettuce

This was the first time I purchased strawberry Zevia, and I think it just might be my new favorite.

The roasted eggplant hummus, on the other hand, won’t be on any of my favorites lists any time soon.  It was kind of nasty!  I’ll just have to toss it away with those disgusting kelp noodles I suppose.

Do you like hummus?  If so, what is your favorite flavor?

Have a great day!

  1. Lover of the hummus – garlic, olive, plain:) Your little man has a GREAT SMILE – love that too!

It has been a heat wave here and could use some more rain too – when it storms here it can be dangerous though with flash flooding, mudslides and lighting striking wild fires – been pretty wicked here lately!

    Happy Monday – Happy Week:)

  2. I’ve heard you can put aloe vera in smoothies. Have you ever tried that? I have a plant, but am nervous to try it out 🙂

  3. Oh my goodness, Michael is adorable! I actually made homemade roasted eggplant hummus and posted the recipe on my blog! I HATED the store bought kind but homemade you can play with the flavors and it is so delicious!

    xx Kait

  4. Sabra’s garlic hummus is my favorite. Can’t get enough of the garlic…although i’m sure others wish I would stay away 🙂

    Happy Monday!

    • Ha ha. I know what you mean. I eat a lemon garlic flavor that probable makes people run away from me! 🙂

      Happy Monday to you too!

  5. Amber

Target has an awesome hummus, it’s Archer Farms – Spinach and Artichoke. You should definitely give it a try!

    • Ooh! Thanks so much for letting me know. I have loved all of the Archer Farms things I have tried so far and am sure I’ll love the hummus too! 🙂

  6. No lie, I get anxiety in Whole Foods! Each time I go there, I walk out saying “I’m never going back there again”! Haha, well, that never stands to be true. I do love their food and specialty selections, but I get so much more for my dollar at Trader Joe’s.

I feel your pain with the Richard hair look! Mine is usually always up this time of year. Ugh.

    • It can definitely be an overwhelming and expensive place to shop which is why I only go there every few months. Trader Joe’s will always be my #1. 🙂

And I don’t wish Richard hair on anyone, but it is nice to have company in the big hair club!

  7. I’m not a huge eggplant lover; it’s probably the only vegetable I don’t really like (besides fennel), so I can’t imagine that I would like that hummus either!!

All the other stuff sounds really good though. Like you said, we could swap fridges and I wouldn’t even mind 😉

  8. Ok so confession- have not been to the Whole Foods here yet. Too far from me and with an Earth Fare I can walk to I can’t bring myself to do it.

Question- I love baba ghanouj and that is eggplant right? Diff from eggplan hummus???
