Grapefruit cucumber lime juice & farewell to an old friend

After nearly three years of making beautiful healthy concoctions together, my juicer bit the big one this morning.

Perhaps I used it too often and loved it a bit too much.

In any case, I was pretty disappointed when my juicer starting to smell like burning rubber before eventually shutting off for good, especially since I had planned to make my latest favorite combo- a twist on regular old grapefruit juice.

Grapefruit cucmber lime juice from The Grass Skirt blog #TheGrassSkirt #juicing

All you need to make the juice is:

1 large Ruby Red grapefruit

1/2 of one large cucumber

1 small lime

You can also add an apple or an orange, which I do (or did) occasionally.

This is really refreshing and would be the perfect combo for a hot summer day.Β  In fact, I just might have to replace my juicer before the warmer weather is here for good!

When was the last time one of your appliances went kaput?

Any juicer recommendations?Β  My broken one is the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer, so I probably wouldn’t get that one again.Β  Any new suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have a wonderful day!

erin

  1. That combination sounds amazing. I am thinking just sliced in cold water for a summer party? Pinning!

I am pretty sure we have an appliance of some sort go kaput like once a week. Yesterday it was the sewer pump!

    • You are a GENIUS! I am going to put all of the ingredients in a water pitcher ASAP.

I hope that your sewer pump situation is all fixed. πŸ™‚

  2. The coffee maker is making the coffee taste like dirt in our house and have ordered a new one that should be arriving soon. I have blown up a $30 blender and an $80 blender and then decided to buy the cadillace of all blenders with an 8 year warranty – working really well for us. Good Luck finding a new juicer:)

  3. I would have to leave out the cucumber but other than that it sounds good. Sorry about your juicer. Have you check Etsy or Ebay for one? I am following from the bloglovinhop. Good luck if I see one I will let you know.

  4. This drink does sound refreshing. Is sugar allowed? πŸ˜€

  5. My blender was the last thing that died…it was a blender passed down to me from Giselle Bundchen, to a writer, to me. I was so sad when that thing died.

  6. Aww RIP Juicer. The drink sounds lovely! I am actually in the market for a juicer (and blender) also so I can’t wait to see what you choose.

    • I have a Vitamix blender which was kind of pricey, but if you make a lot of smoothies, you will find that it is worth it. I believe you can still get them on QVC with easy-pay. They supposedly can make juice too, but I’ve never tried it! I’ll definitely share what I get if and when I replace my broken juicer though. πŸ™‚

  7. This combination sounds so fresh and delicious! I don’t know why I hadn’t thought to want a juicer before, but now I’m planning to convince my man we need one this summer =)

  8. Hey Erin! I just wanted to stop by and say thanks so much for stopping by my site and leaving a comment on my How to Increase Blog Traffic post :o) I’m glad you liked it! • Hi Elena! Thanks so much for letting me know about the no-reply. I thought that I had fixed it (through Blogger), but I guess there are still issues that I need to figure out. πŸ™ I hope that you have a fantastic weekend too! πŸ™‚

  9. Oh my goodness! I love my juicer and I have never thought of that mix of fruits and veggies. I will have to try that. Sorry yours broke. It can be a real pain in the butt! I use a Cuisinart juicer and it is fab. Very sturdy and gets a lot of the juice out.

  10. Oh juice! That’s my next thing to try; I love making smoothies, but haven’t done the juicing thing yet. This one looks fab & refreshing! Sorry to hear about your juicer!
