My very favorite Thanksgiving recipes

With Thanksgiving less than two days away, I’ll be in full prep mode tomorrow.  While we’re not hosting Thanksgiving dinner at our house, I always like to bring a few dishes with me when we make the rounds.

I do have a feeling that no one will care about what I bring to eat this year though.   Everyone just wants to see my sweet baby!

(Not that I blame them one tiny bit.)

Anyway, here are three recipes that I’ve brought in years past that were a hit with my family.  Hopefully, these will be helpful to anyone who is still trying to figure out what to make.

If nothing else, they are just great fall recipes to have on hand.




It’s hard to believe, but I have been making this applesauce recipe for the past decade (starting when I was in college).  I’m not going to lie, I dread peeling and coring those apples every year, but the result is worth the effort.  And besides, I do get a whole year off in between.  🙂


Sweet Potato Casserole

My husband goes crazy for this recipe.  I’ll usually make it in the fall to have along with our steaks on Sunday, but last year, my mother asked me to make it for Thanksgiving dinner.  I always follow the recipe exactly, but I do use almond flour in place of regular flour to make it gluten-free for MT.   I actually think the almond flour might make it taste even better- if that’s even possible!


Apple Cranberry Casserole

I’m cheating a little by adding this casserole onto my favorites because this will actually be the first time that I am making it specifically for Thanksgiving.  MT and I love this easy festive dish though, and I know that my family will love it too.  And if not, MT and I will happily eat the leftovers.

  1. I go to my parents’ and my mom and I cook everything together. I usually make a pumpkin cheesecake with pecan sandies cookies as the crust (it’s awesome), but this year I was too frazzled and copped out and bought a Costco pumpkin pie (at least they are awesome too)! One staple of my family’s Thanksgiving is my grandma’s mac and cheese made with spaghetti noodles and sharp white cheddar:
