October 2015 Favorites
It was really easy to choose my favorites this month because there were a lot of standouts. I have some makeup, skin care, food, and even a social media favorite, so let’s get to it!
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I recently became a red head. I figured that I should probably switch the color that I had been using to fill in my brows and decided to go with Ecobrow in the color Rita. I apply it using a thin angled brush and absolutely love the results. If you’re looking for a great non-toxic way to fill in your brows, I highly recommend Ecobrow. It also comes in the shades Penelope (for brunettes), Marilyn (for blondes), and Liz (for dark brunettes). Yes, the colors are all named after famous ladies with amazing brows! (By the way, I am absolutely loving my new hair color!)
I went into lots of detail about my newfound love of Kari Gran skin care in a dedicated post, but this wouldn’t be a true monthly favorites post if I didn’t include it today. I really like how you can try the line in a starter kit without committing to the full sized products first because, let’s face it. skin care products can get expensive. I’ve been really into facial sprays lately, so I’ve especially enjoyed the hydrating tonic. It is a great refresher after I tone my face and throughout the day if my skin feels dry. Truth be told, I am kind of obsessed with skin care in general at the moment, and I plan to do a post on my updated skin care routine sometime this month.
Continuing on the subject of skin care… My new favorite mask is called the Mermaid Mask, and I purchased it through etsy from the LeahlaniSkincare shop which is based in Hanalei, Hawaii. Here’s a little bit about the mask from the shop:
This mask is superfood for your skin. With Hawaiian raw honey, Hawaiian spirulina, Chlorella, sea buckthorn, luminess algae and 15 botanicals. Your skin will drink up this elixir and radiate from within.
This mask is suitable for all skin types. I have dry skin and find that some masks can exacerbate the dryness, but that is not the case with the Mermaid Mask at all. My face is glowing, soft, and smooth after every use, and I am pretty much obsessed with it. Shipping was super super fast, and I even received some generous samples along with my order. One of the samples was for the Honey Love Microdermabrasion 3-in-1 Cleanser, Mask & Exfoliator, and I can definitely see myself purchasing that soon.
As I wrote above, I really like using facial sprays and mists, and aside from the one by Kari Gran, I have been loving this inexpensive rosewater spray. It is a great way to hydrate and revitalize the skin, restore its pH balance, and soften dry areas.
This is the most hydrating lipstick that I have ever worn. The packaging is a little cheesy and looks really small (although I think the amount of lipstick is comparable to other brands), but it’s creamy, smells really good, is supposed to have anti-aging properties, and the color is a beautiful peachy-nude.
I had to talk myself out of buying a giant-sized bag at Costco yesterday because I knew that I’d want to eat the whole thing in a day. They are such a delicious snack with an awesome ingredient list. If you haven’t tried them yet, do so ASAP!
Citrine Natural Beauty Bar (on pretty much all social media)
I’m pretty much obsessed with Citrine Natural Beauty Bar- a store and website that sells luxury non-toxic beauty and skin care products. I’ll do a follow-up post on my awesome shopping experience through their website, but I am also totally loving its founder, Melissa Lenberg. She is gorgeous, knowledgable, and personable, and I really relate to her because, like me, she has Rheumatoid Arhritis. In fact, we share similar stories as far as how we got into green beauty. I’m pretty much obsessed with watching her makeup tutorials on Periscope and YouTube and following her on Instagram. Hopefully, I can visit one of her two stores one day!
