October 2016 Favorites
I hope that you had a great October. Did it fly by quickly or what? It was such a special month for us between visiting the farm and pumpkin patch, dressing up for Halloween, and celebrating my oldest baby’s 4th birthday. November is already shaping up to be just as fun!
I don’t have many favorites from the month because I have been working through my current stashes, but what I do have to share with you is worth the read, so please stick with me.
Yes, another ode to Mrs. Meyer’s. The scents are always so spectacular that I just cannot help but include them when I write these posts. The mum scent is my current obsession. I might totally suck at keeping real mums alive, but that’s alright since I can still enjoy their aroma when I clean my house. Side note: I am absolutely dying to see what Christmas scents Mrs. Meyer’s releases this year!
These dryer balls are made of 100% wool, contain no dyes of perfumes, and are biodegradable, compostable, and antimicrobial. Depending on the size of the load that I am drying, I will use 1-2 balls at a time to make my laundry super soft. I really love adding a drop of lavender essential oil to each ball to give my clothes a subtle scent. Once you use these, you won’t ever go back to dryer sheets again.
LOVE this body butter. Love it, love it, love it. It has a fresh, clean, floral scent and just soaks right into my skin to make it soft and smooth. What I adore most about it is that 5% of every purchase goes to organizations, such as Cowgirls vs. Cancer, Boston Firefighter’s Burn Foundation, The Red Sox Foundation (I am a fan of the Yankees, but I’ll let this one slide.), MaxFund Animal Adoption Center, The Gathering Place, and Berni’s Journey. There are so many other scents, as well as perfumes, candles, and face products, and I am definitely going to try them soon.
If you have been reading The Grass Skirt for awhile, you know that I am all about my rosehip oil. I was never super picky about which brand I used, but after using the Trilogy, I think I am officially a rosehip oil snob. I personally have seen an even greater result in the condition of my skin with this particular brand especially in terms of my skin tone and fading of scars. It even adds an extra level of hydration. The only negative is that I find that my skin can look a little too dewy when I use it during the day, so I use this one during the day.
I recently ran out of my Moonlight Catalyst and wanted to try a different peel. This one is considerably cheaper, so I wasn’t sure if it would be effective. I use it 1-2 nights per week, and I’ve been really impressed with the results. It makes my skin softer, smoother, and revitalizes it without over drying. This is truly such a steal.
I’ve been super into this YouTube channel for about two months now. Jen, the woman behind the channel, mostly shares her tips for cleaning the home and often uses nontoxic methods (especially white vinegar). Because of Jen, my house has never been cleaner. I am telling you- if you need motivation to get off your butt and get cleaning, watch a few of her videos. One of my friends actually said that she had to quit watching this channel at night because she just wanted to stay up late to clean! Jen is also into fitness and healthy eating, so my fellow health nuts will appreciate that aspect of her channel too.
