Oral surgery & easy weeknight dinners


I had an appointment with an oral surgeon yesterday to take care of some annoying issues.  The actual procedure was really simple and painless (especially compared to child birth!), but I was told that I need to avoid any foods that are hot, sticky, chewy, crunchy, and/or hard.

The surgeon recommended sticking mainly with cold liquids for the next two days, such as smoothies, milkshakes, and yogurt.



Luckily, I eat smoothies and yogurt daily anyway, so it hasn’t been too much of a bummer.

On my way home from the appointment, I mysteriously happened to pull through the Krispy Kreme drive-through and drove away with a milkshake.

Don’t know how that happened…

It wasn’t such a smart idea for someone with a dairy intolerance, but let me tell you, it was worth it.

Because I needed to eat something soft, last night’s dinner was an omelet.  Omelets have actually always been an easy go-to dinner for me, especially when I’m short on time, just don’t feel like cooking, or when MT is traveling.

Obviously, salads and veggie-heavy meals are super quick (and healthy) options as well.

It helps to grill or bake some chicken breasts up in advance to have on hand.  I actually used some cooked chicken the other night to make a Chicken Waldorf salad that was really good and very simple.

Foods like that are definitely out of the question until at least tomorrow though.  Until then, I’ll just daydream about solid foods…

  1. I always keep tortillas, different cans of beans, marina sauce, pasta, etc. on hand. Quick and Easy! Have a Great One – Here’s to getting back to eating solid food again:)

    It not always quick but my go to meals often involves brown rice. Usually rice, beans and tofu. Or rice, tuna, soy sauce and some seaweed. Once the rice is cooked the rest is effortless. Of its just for me I skip the rice cooker and just do it on the stove. It’s less of a mess and quicker!
