Shopping spotlight: ASOS

Shopping spotlight: ASOS

Please note:  I paid for all of the items mentioned below with my own money with the exception of the bathing suit (as ASOS generously provided a voucher for it).  As always, all opinions below are my own.    Some of my very favorite posts to write are those about products, brands, or companies that I enjoy- whether they are related to beauty, fashion, parenting, food, or health. You might have noticed that I sometimes tend to get a bit over enthusiastic.  I think that I might have been a QVC hostess in another lifetime. Lately, I...

Weekend recap (in mostly pictures)

Weekend recap (in mostly pictures)

Happy Monday! If you live in the U.S., I hope that you had a great 4th of July.  It was a beautiful weekend here in Charlotte, so we took lots of walks and spent a great deal of time outdoors. Here are some pictures from the weekend… Yes, we all wore red, white, and blue on the 4th.  I like to keep things nice and cheesy. How thrilled does Addison look in this photo with me?   She looks pretty unimpressed here too.     Much better!   I cannot take how grown up Michael looks in this picture.  He really needs to...

5 reasons to unplug from your electronic devices

5 reasons to unplug from your electronic devices

I’m going to sound like a little old lady today, but I remember a time when I couldn’t be reached 24/7, when I didn’t see constant updates about the health condition of my former Kindergarten classmate’s cat, and when I didn’t receive breaking news on the relationship status of a girl who I maybe sat near once in a study hall a decade ago. Yep. Somehow I muddled through and lived to talk about it. Believe it or not, the memories that I have of my childhood (where owning a monster-sized computer that only allowed...

Weekend recap

Happy Monday! Before I jump into the happenings from my weekend, I want to remind you to enter my NuNaturals giveaway.  There will be four winners, so the odds of winning are pretty good! Onto the weekend… MT and I had a date at Portofino’s…again.  We just love the low key atmosphere and the food so much that we haven’t had any desire to go anywhere else lately. If you want even more predictability, I ordered salmon as my entree. Maybe we’ll have to shake things up soon for the purposes of the blog. We did...

Friday favorites & a NuNaturals giveaway!

Friday favorites & a NuNaturals giveaway!

1.  Starbucks Iced Green Tea Maybe it is the summer heat, but I am just not as into coffee lately.  I’ve been drinking iced green tea like a madwoman instead though. (A special thank you to my sister for treating me twice in the past week!).  The iced green tea is so refreshing, and I might even start to make it at home to save a few bucks (although there’s just something about ordering one at Starbucks…).   2.  Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation On Tuesday evening, I had a minor accident with my PMD and ended up...

Recipe: Mango barbecue sauce

Recipe: Mango barbecue sauce

One of my very favorite things about the summer (not too surprisingly) involves food and drinks.  Fresh corn, tomatoes from the farmers market, grilling out, sipping wine on the patio…  I love it all. I have a lot of go-to summertime recipes in my arsenal and just added one more (a barbecue sauce) that absolutely positively needs to be shared with you today. I think it’s just perfect for the 4th of July! As you’ll see, it is so versatile, and the possibilities for how it can be used are nearly endless.  I am sure the...

Weekend recap (Lazy 5 Ranch)

Weekend recap (Lazy 5 Ranch)

It has been scorching hot in Charlotte lately.  If I don’t get the kids out for a stroll by 8 am, I can just forget the whole idea because walking any time after 10 in the morning is just too uncomfortable, sticky, humid, and gross.  In fact, I’ve taken up doing laps around the mall lately- a great air-conditioned alternative to walking outdoors! Anyway, MT and I wanted to do something fun with Michael over the weekend, but it was too steamy to go to the zoo (my first choice), and he hasn’t been digging the pool (just a...

1.  Skinny Pop Naturally Sweet Popcorn MT makes sure that I always have a good supply of popcorn, and he picked this up for me a few weeks ago.  I thought that it might taste a bit like kettle corn when I read the bag, but that isn’t the case at all.  It is basically just regular popcorn with a subtly sweet flavor.  Add a little sea salt, and it is perfect combination of salty and sweet! 2.  Mary’s Gone Crackers Pretzels These pretzels are gluten free, whole grain, and totally addictive.  I’ve been snacking on them all...

8 tips for beautiful skin (& break up with your makeup)

8 tips for beautiful skin (& break up with your makeup)

I’ve always loved makeup.  I love shopping for makeup, looking at the pretty packaging, and choosing what beautiful shade of blush I feel like wearing on a particular day. Even when I was in high school and rarely wore a lick of it, I still enjoyed reading beauty books and wandering through the makeup aisles of the drugstore. Somewhere between then and now, makeup became something that I not only enjoyed wearing but something that I felt I needed to wear to feel complete.   All of the lip products that I found in my diaper bag...
