March 2016 Favorites

(Please note: This is not a sponsored post, but it does contain some affiliate links.)   I didn’t have to step back to come up with my standout favorites from the month of March because they were just so insanely obvious.  In fact,  I reached for all of these things on a daily basis with the exception of the face scrub, and you’ll read why in a minute. It was definitely a good month for new discoveries. Tata Harper Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint in Very Sweet I received this product (not shown above) as a free sample with...

Products I’ve used up lately & my thoughts on each one (#6)

Products I’ve used up lately & my thoughts on each one (#6)

I am doing an empties post today, so I can finally toss these containers into our recycling bin. It always feels so weird to hang onto empty packages and bottles for so long, but let’s face it, bloggers do a lot of weird things. Activated Charcoal Every so often, I like to take activated charcoal to rid my body of toxins (consult your physician before deciding to do this yourself).  I also break open the capsules and use the powder to scrub my teeth because it naturally whitens them.  If you’d like to see a more in-depth post...

Whole Foods Beauty Week & a Giveaway

Whole Foods Beauty Week & a Giveaway

As a mom of three small children, a vacation getaway is kind of out of the question. While I’d love to fly off to Maui with my husband on a whim (not that we ever did that pre-kids), I have to clear my head on a smaller scale a bit closer to home these days. One of my very favorite places to get some much needed “me time” is at Whole Foods.  It is basically my happy place, and I often refer to it as my mother ship. In the past, I would easily spend hours just browsing the food options and hitting up their famous hot bar, but...

Lily Lolo Mascara versus Per-fekt Lash Perfection Gel

Lily Lolo Mascara versus Per-fekt Lash Perfection Gel

When it comes to transitioning to cleaner beauty products, finding the perfect mascara seems to present quite the challenge.  We’re all so used to those mascaras that don’t budge and can only be removed by a prayer and a little eye makeup remover.  We’re also accustomed to finding any type of mascara (i.e. waterproof, black, brown, blue, lengthening, volumizing, etc.) in mostly any drugstore, supermarket, or makeup counter. You might be curious to know about two green mascaras that I’ve used, each very different from...

February 2016 Favorites

February 2016 Favorites

(Please note: This post contains some affiliate links.) Happy Friday! It’s a few days late, but I have some really fantastic favorites to share with you from the month of February.  Most of them have never been mentioned here before, so let’s get to it!   Food/Beverage Favorites Matcha Green Tea Smoothie When I first tried matcha green tea, I thought it was…disgusting. But because of all its wonderful health benefits, I really wanted to develop a taste for it.  It took this matcha green tea smoothie recipe to bring...

6 clean bath & body care brands for babies and kids

6 clean bath & body care brands for babies and kids

(Please note: This is not a sponsored post, but it does contain some affiliate links.)   By now, you’ve probably heard or read about the potential link between Johnson & Johnson’s  talcum powder (which they no longer use) and ovarian cancer. What I find most upsetting about this story is that it’s about a product meant for babies.  If there is any category of products on the market that should be considered safe, it should be those for babies and kids.  Right? If you go into a store like Buy Buy Baby or even just...

{Part 1} Greening Your Man: Convincing him to use cleaner products

{Part 1} Greening Your Man: Convincing him to use cleaner products

When I first switched to a greener lifestyle, my spirits would sink a little every time I opened my makeup drawer and I saw the spot where my MAC lipsticks used to live.  I missed my perfume collection and all of the beautiful bottles that used to adorn my dresser, and when I had to chug down plain water rather than Crystal Light, I acted as though I was being forced to swallow toilet water. And shampoo that didn’t lather? Just stab me in the heart. But now, I get absolutely giddy when I see all of my clean things, and I feel a sense of...

My Green Beauty Wish List (February 2016)

My Green Beauty Wish List (February 2016)

To stay on budget, my husband and I have a monthly allowance that we each use to buy fun things for ourselves (outside of all the necessities).  I have been keeping a notebook for the past two years that I use to record all of the beauty, skin care, clothing, and jewelry items that I am coveting.   I refer back to the notebook each month to see what really catches my eye at that time.  With this little habit, I end up spending my allowance on things that I truly want- rather than making impulse purchases. I thought that you might like to...

Beauty Brand Spotlight: The Raw Spa

Beauty Brand Spotlight: The Raw Spa

If  I had to describe today’s featured brand in just a few words, those words would be: fresh, moisturizing, and delicious (even though the products aren’t meant for human or animal consumption). I’m talking about The Raw Spa, a range of nourishing bath, body, and shower products.  I used and adored four of these products and would recommend any of them in a heartbeat.  In fact, they are insanely perfect for winterizing the skin and keeping it from looking and feeling dull and dry. Both the Cleopatra and Selene Exfoliant...

Beauty Brand Spotlight: Privai

Beauty Brand Spotlight: Privai

(Please note: I was not paid to write this review.  However, many of the products mentioned below were sent to me for consideration.)   I’ve featured a lot of brands on the blog during its 5-year run, but today is the first time that I am going to familiarize you with a natural, botanical-based skincare brand that will give you a true at-home spa experience. The brand is called Privai, and it was founded by Christina Stratton and Ilana Alberico in Asheville, North Carolina- one of my very favorite places. I have personally loved...
